 When students are deciding on where to study. They have the option of choosing
between online class and traditional class. Traditional class is defined as teacher-centered
delivery of instruction to classes of students who are the receiver of information. While class
online is defined as everything delivered completely online, meaning there are no physical
or on campus class sessions. Today some students are finding it much easier to maintain a
job, family and start a school by taking online classes. Although some students still prefer to
stick with the traditional classes, but they still have option to take online class. There are
many differences between online class and traditional class which the writer would like to
discuss, focusing on student’s time management, class environment and communication.

First, there some differences in student’s time management between traditional

class and online class. In traditional class, students have fixed learning schedule that are
obligated to any students. They have permanent schedule that student must legit. However,
online class have free learning schedule. Since there is no physical location, online class
often offer more flexibility to choose the time and place to learn that is most convenient for
them. This is true in two senses. Moreover, online class offer self-pacing where students
absorb the material on their own time using resources provide by their parents or material
given by their educator. Besides that, traditional class have a limited time because they have
long study period during the day. Students will attend to easily feel exhausted and sleepy
after coming back from school. Hence their material only limited to material given by their
teacher at school. Thus, the student’s time management is one of the differences between
online class and traditional class.

Secondly, the difference is the class environment. In traditional class, they have
permanent class while online class has no specific classroom. Traditional class also have
facilities like assembly hall, lecture hall and laboratory to do experiment. The opposite for
online class which does not have any of those facilities and they cannot do any experiment.
In traditional class, the educator and the students can discuss with each other while in
online class student study individually since the educator is not with the student. These will
make the student find the way they like to study whether being monitored by the educator
or alone. Moreover, traditional class pave the way for better and more efficient group
discussions compared to online class. It is because group assignments in the classroom
environment have more set schedule with more time for the project to do in classroom. This
is a lot easier, because you can only physically meet with each other and be able to talk face
to face with each other compared to trying to do the group assignment online.
