WHICH METHOD DO YOU THINK IS BEST WHEN IT COMES TO SCIENCE

EDUCATION – BLENDED, TRADITIONAL (F2F), OR PURE ONLINE?

Moderator: Goodmorning everyone I am ERICHKA ALBAIRA and for today we are going to discuss the
different mode of learning, so every mode of learning has its own representative which give their
ideas, thoughts and opinion.

MODERATOR: From the side of Traditional Learning please introduce yourself Mhea, Quenie, and
Raezel.

(INTRODUCE YOURSELF)

MODERATOR: From the side of Blended Learning please introduce yourself Melody, Juliana, and Harvin.

(INTRODUCE YOURSELF)

Moderator: Last is from the group of Online Learning, which is Ivan, Bea And Avril.

(INTRODUCE YOURSELF)

Moderator: So, at this moment we will hear everyone's opinions and point of views with regards to
the discussion about which method do you think is the best when it comes to science education, is it
blended, traditional or online and please representative do not forget to support your answer.

Moderator: Let's hear first from this 3 person Ms. Mhea you can take your time and after you
answered please be follow by Ms. Quenie and last is Ms. Raezel. {traditional}

MHEA: for me the best method of learning science education is in traditional because were able to ask
our teacher sa mga lesson or task na hindi natin nauunawaan or naguguluhan, were all aware naman
that science education really needs an attention and focus which traditional can provide it, so how can
traditional provide it? Simply by showing a demo, and doing an experiment and other activities which is
normally ginagawa sa mga laboratory lang. And in traditional we are focus in studying because aside
from we keep in touch, we are also work together with our colleagues or classmates, naeenjoy natin
And in traditional mas nagagawa
nilang effective yung process of learning kasi nga nandun sila to guide us personally.
Not unlike in online class maraming instances na nangyayari , minsan andaming nacucut na learning for
some reason , gaya ng mahina connection/unstable and noise of environment kaya di nakakafocus. All

QUENIE: All people, especially educators and learners, can appreciate traditional things, especially
culture, because fashion gives us an identity, no matter how modern or sophisticated, we claim to be
loved. Respect for our traditional attire means we are not afraid to challenge trends, whether face-to-
face or online, because whether face-to-face or online, we appreciate the traditional for other cultures
because culture did not change or we cannot change because we are born Filipino citizens, so we cannot
change the tradition of one another, or our society belongs to us.

Moderator: Our next 3-person na sasalang sa ating usapin is Ms. Melody, to follow of Ms. Juliana and
for the last is Mr. Harvin. {blended}

MELODY: Blended learning method it is the combination of both – face to face and online
communication between learners and educators. Due to this combination, students can work with
tutors when they are at school, as well as use additional online resources at home. In class they can ask
teachers for some help, and work on their projects and papers at home, using online materials. Having
these materials at hand, they also use online methods of communication with teachers to get support
and advice outside of the class. Traditional face-to-face learning is combined with online methods so
that learners can reach their full potential.
learning and teaching techniques, yung pag lecture, hands-on activities, field research journal, at peer-
to-peer teaching.
method.
classmates niya.

In my opinion best talaga ang learning method when it comes to science education is Blended kasi lahat
JULIANA: Online learning is spectacular indeed because it favors us in so many ways. But it's the
traditional learning that give us various of experiences, sense of happiness, and gaining knowledge that
you can only learn through hand-on-hand teachings.

Yes, online learning can give you this sense of freedom to do your school works at any time at your own
will at your own pace. While on traditional learning, we have a schedule to follow, and an allotted time
to make.

Both teachers and students having gadgets and connectivity to use as a medium of learning doesn't
really mean that we have to stick to that arrangement. According to almost all of the results of the
researchs na nakalap ko; "online learning is certainly the more effective or even better than in-person
classroom learning" they stated. But that doesn't guarantee that traditional learning isn't effective
enough. Ako mismo sa experience ko, face-to-face classes is still the best setup for me, it's my preferred
method of learning. Especially if it's science, physics, chemistry, biology at marami pang branches ng
science especially sa may mga computation.

But due to our situation, because of covid19, online learning is a safe choice to make. And choosing
blended is smarter.

Blended learning plays a very important role in meeting the demands of improved learning in a growing
technology age (Jimison, 2013) Addition to this, D2L, an online platform released a statement regarding
blended learning stating that; "we’re confident in telling you that education isn’t going back to how it
was before COVID." Because technology already have a big part in our lives. And then soonest, online
will always be in the option, online will always be in every sentence. Just like how the blended learning
have traditional and online learning.

The uniqueness of the blended learning is represented by its ability to use the refined techniques from
both, e-learning and traditional method, thus, the output will be a version of the best from each
method. (Almasaeid of ResearchGate)

At the end of the discussion, it's still all depends on the student. To which method she or he comfortable
learning to.

HARVIN: Because of the pandemic, we are not allowed to conduct face to face classes. For me the best
learning modality is blended learning because it is the most flexible learning modality that we can
access. Imagine we can do online classes so that we can clarify things with our teachers and do our
activities in online classrooms. This will help us improve learning in our own pace and give us much more
time to do our activities in online classrooms. In this way we can be more productive and less stressed
and more engaged in learning activities
Moderator: And for our last 3 participant will be Mr. Ivan, then Ms. Bea and for the last is Ms. Avril.
{online}

IVAN: online learning is more effective than traditional learning because it provides more time and
individual attention, it reduces student anxiety because many students are able to communicate more
effectively through online education than in traditional classes. Also in online learning students gives an
opportunity where they can work while studying, and help them to earn at the same time to learn and
build their skills.

BEA: First, the good thing about the online class is less “gastos”, because if we think about the fact that
there is no pandemic, we spend too much on everything such as print outs, equipment or school
projects and many others, you can add to this the fare you have to go school or when you're private, it's
the gas of your car.
- In the online class you can work, just like the working students, because nowadays we still need money
for every day if you compare to the face to face class you can't work right away because you have to go
to school. Many also say that you can't learn anything in an online class. It depends on you if you will
listen, or if you will be distracted by other things in your house. So, there is a saying if you want there is
a way and if you don't there is a reason.

AVRIL: For me, I choose pure online method when it comes to science education because I believe that
It promotes active and independent learning and also online learning platforms are a great solution for
learning on your own schedule. Science and technology educators should use online tools to promote
sharing of information, discourse, critical analysis, and collaboration between students and teachers at
various locations throughout the world.

(ADDITION LANG TO IF EVER NA DI UMABOT SA 10 MINUTES)

Moderator: So, this time anyone is allow and have their opportunity to speak again and and share their
ideas.

Moderator: (Summarizations)

NAISIP KO PO KASI MAGANDANG FLOW YUNG ISA ISA ANG SASAGOT SA BAWAT SIDE PARA MAGMUKA
PO TALAGA SYANG DEBATE

AND LAHAT PO IS NAKAFORMAL (PERO IT'S UP TO YOU PARIN IF AYAW MO)

SUMMARIZE: Long story short for the advantage of online classes is that they require less "gastos"
because, even though there is no pandemic, we spend far too much on things like printouts, equipment,
and school projects, among other things. Science and technology instructors should employ internet
resources to enhance knowledge sharing, conversation, critical analysis, and cooperation among
students and teachers throughout the country. And for traditional, if you've been assigned an
assignment and you're not sure how to do it, you can simply contact the instructor at any time, unlike
online, where we can't guarantee that our teacher will respond quickly and that the students will
understand because we're face to face with our teacher. And lastly for Blended, in class, students may
seek assistance from professors, and at home, they can work on projects and papers utilizing internet
resources. With these tools, they may also use online ways of communication with teachers to seek help
and advice outside of the classroom.
