First Speaker (Husain Maki Yusuf)

Good afternoon teacher, students, and fellow debaters. The topic of our debate is that Online
education must be offered in schools. As we the affirmative team believe that this statement is
true. Today as the first speaker, I will be introducing the positive effect of Online education that
must be offered in schools.
Definition: What is Online learning? Online learning is education that takes place over the
Internet. It is often referred to as “e-Learning” among other terms. However, online learning is
just one type of “distance learning” - the umbrella term for any learning that takes place across
distance and not in a traditional classroom.
The concept of traditional education has changed radically within the last couple of
years. Just being physically present in a classroom does not mean it the only learning
option not with the rise of the internet and new technologies. You have access to a
quality education whenever and wherever you want, as long as you have access to a
computer. There’s is no need to discount the surrounding education through the
internet. It’s hard to understand the notion of leaving behind the conventional
classroom, especially if it's to face this vast space called The Internet. It allows for a
learning experience, And It’s more cost-effective than traditional education. Considering
that it requires no transportation in which cost transportation fee, transportation gas,
time.
The biggest advantage of an online course is that your classroom and instructor
(theoretically) are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Everything is available
to you. You can get announcements, access notes, review assignments, take practice
quizzes, discuss questions, chat with fellow students and study any time you want.
Other than certain due dates, you make your own schedule for completing the
requirements of the course.
As advantages goes, these are some:
1. It's flexible.

2. It’s accessible.

3. It allows for a customized learning experience.

4. It’s more cost-effective than traditional education.

These advantages will be discussed by the 2nd speaker.

Thank you
Second Speaker (Yousuf Binektas)
Good afternoon teacher, students, and fellow debaters. The topic of our debate is that Online
education must be offered in schools. As we the affirmative team believe that this statement is
true. Today as the second speaker, I will be discussing the advantages said by the first speaker.
Rebuttal
-

Over 30 percent of higher education students in the U.S. are taking at least one distance course.
However, that’s not reason enough to shy away from this alternative, which has proven to be
valid and useful for many students. According to the most recent survey from Babson Survey
Research Group, over 30 percent of higher education students in the United States are taking at
least one distance course. Online education is a sensible choice whether you’re a teenager or an
adult. As a student, this can be a useful learning method for sharpening your skills in a difficult
subject, or learning a new skill.

As to continue from the advantages we get from Online learning

1. It's flexible.
- Online education enables the teacher and the student to set their own learning pace, and there’s
the added flexibility of setting a schedule that fits everyone’s agenda. As a result, using online
allows for a better balance of work and studies so there’s no thing that you will have to give up.
Studying online gives a chance for the students to time manage which makes it good for study or
play.

2. It’s accessible.
- Online education allows a person to study from anywhere in the world. This means those that
needs to get to class don’t need to go to another country to study which then you have to follow a
rigid schedule. Overall, not only do you save time, you also save money which can be spent on
something else. The virtual classroom is also available where there’s internet. An example to this
would be if you want to study abroad and want to get a job, studying online is a great choice.

3. It allows for a customized learning experience

- I’ve mention how flexibility can help you study at your own pace. But online education is also
flexible for any students’ individual requirements and ability level.
- There’s often access to very diverse material such as videos, photos, eBooks, and having to
screenshot some of the stuff that’s on the screen which is much easier or writing it in an Ms
Word file.
4. It’s more cost-effective than traditional education.
- Unlike in-person education methods, online education can be affordable. Like sometimes in
school you will have to bring your books and put in a locker that you’ll have to pay, or having to
not commute much as you could be saving fuel. This allows for better budget management.
Many of you may also be subject to discounts or scholarships, so the price is rarely high. You
can also save money from the commute and class materials, which are often available for free. In
other words, the monetary investment is less, but the results can be better than other options.

All in all, Online learning being flexible which means student can learn easily at their own pace,
it’s accessible to those who have internet and a gadget, it allows for more customized learning
experience means ability to take notes much faster like screenshotting, Its more cost effective
that traditional education as there is not much to commute like taking busses or having to buy
more pens or pencils or books or notebooks.
Thank You

In summary,
our first speaker spoke about the biggest advantage of online courses, which is that your classroom as
well as your instructor (theoretically) are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week which makes
everything available for you as you work! They also spoke about that you could have easier access to
notes, announcements, review assignments and discuss questions with fellow classmates as well as
study any time you want.

For our second speaker, they spoke about how according to the Babson Survey Research Group, over 30
percent of higher education students in the U.S. are taking at least one distance course. And that Online
education is a sensible choice whether you’re a teenager or even an adult. Our second speaker also
mentioned that online learning’s flexible, accessible as well as it allows for a customized learning
experience and that it is more cost-effective than traditional education.

Today I will be talking about how there are only a few reasons to choose online education over
traditional ones and why 90 percent of students today think that online learning is the same or even
better than the traditional classroom experience.

Every student must assess their unique situation and decide according to their needs and goals, and
while this alternative to traditional education is not for everyone, it is still a convenient option with
virtually endless options for international students all over the world.

So, to my fellow debaters and Mr JM, in conclusion our team believe that Online edutation must be
offered in schools is indeed true.
