in each of your three network categories:  Operational, Personal, and
Strategic

Organization ● Co-Managers

Part 2: Answer the following thought questions after you complete the
table above.
How has your network changed as a result of your current leadership role?
My network has changed a lot when I assume this leadership role. I have observed it has
expanded especially the operational network since my work requires extensive
cooperation/collaboration with other departments and staff to attain projects and activities.

Is one type/category over-or under-represented in your network?  Why do you think that is
the case?
I think there is a balance between my three networks. However, I do believe that there is a
strong connection with my personal network compared to others. When you are in a position is
it important to have this network closer than any other else as they will be your source of
energy and support even outside work. A strong support of personal networks may also keep us
sane in a way they will support your mental health and help you manage issues by providing
you with different perspectives.

What can you do to increase types/categories that are under-represented?

For me personally I believe I just have enough network of people and there is no need to
increase it.

Exercise 2: Speed of Trust Exercise

Part 1: High Trust

Think of an individual with whom you have a high trust relationship, and describe the
relationship as it relates to each of the questions below. After responding, consider how the
high level of trust had a positive impact on how you work together.

How did the 13 behaviors (from this Unit’s Lesson) contribute to building this high trust
relationship?
The 13 behaviors that have been enumerated in this lesson will enable us leaders to be
oriented with specific characters and competence to become a high trust leader. A High Trust
Leader is an individual who has unquestionably strong personal credibility, has the ability to
create and grow trust with others interpersonally, and who is then able to extend that trust
organizationally.

Describe the relationship. What’s it like? How does it feel?

In my experience I have two people in our organization whom I do trust dearly. Our relationship
is very genuine in that we work smoothly with any projects together, deliver results, and even
confront issues and reality but not the person. It is like everyone is open to constructive
creticism and not take it personally. It felt good to have this kind of relationship because it wont
affect your work flow and your personal relationship with youor co leaders.

What is the communication like between you? Can you say the wrong things but still get the
meaning across?
Yes, confrotning reality/issues and not the person is a part of an open communication where
there is only openess and understanding between other for me is a gift that only few leaders
can experience and im glad and with the right people in our organization.

How quickly are you able to get things done?

I can say we always hit the target. We always deliver result in time because there is good
communication there is trust.

How much do you enjoy this relationship?
I have been working with them for 7 years now and i can say it was enjoyable and fulfilling. The
relationship is so genuine personally and work related. I think it is so rare to have this kind of
relationship with someone in the organization. Not everyone is gifted with this kind of
relationship.

Part 2: Low Trust

Now, think of a person with whom you have a low trust relationship, and describe the
relationship as relates to each of the questions below. After responding, consider how the low
trust may be negatively impacting your work. Then, refer to the 13 behaviors that build trust
and identify what changes you can make to begin changing the nature of this relationship.

Describe a typical interaction between the two of you.

I have this one person in our organization whom i have a low trust relationshio. He is part of the
top management team i can say that our interaction is cordial since he is my big boss but deep
inside i still cant manage to give him my full trust because of some issues specifically his
commitment to his words and integrity.

How do you feel before and after? Does it take a lot of energy?
It takes a lot of energy dealing with him; it is like every conversation is not genuine. Though, I
still respect him as my big boss but at the back of my mind there is something that I couldn't tell
him upfront because he might get disappointed or felt disrespected.

What is the communication like between you?

• Does it flow easily?
• Are you often misunderstood?
• Do you withhold information?
Communication flows easy because he is also respectable towards us leaders. But I don't think
there is open communication between us leaders and him (big boss) since even if we make

decisions he will always have the final say on everything. In some instances we conceal
information because we don't want to disappoint him and get a bad impression.

How well do you work together?

• How long does it take to get things done?
In terms of work, we work well and I deliver results in return. I like how he manage the
organization because he is good with project management and I like it because it drive us to
organizational transformation.

How much do you enjoy this relationship?

I enjoy the work thing with him because as a leader he is visionary and very creative. But
relationship wise i don't because i do not fully trust him but not totally despise him.
