Every single day, even though we do not want to, we are still obliged to at least make a
decision that will keep us moving forward. These decisions might be small, or as big as
something that can change our lives forever. This is the reason why one should know
how and when to use critical thinking for us to be able to have a rational judgement.
There are few steps for us to be able to have a better decision and judgement, and it
includes first the; Workout your question. Working out your question means that you are
to scrutinize what you are looking for. It is important for you to focus only on one specific
goal to achieve for you to be able to plot all the plans that you will be taking as soon as
you identify what you are looking for. Next is you have to; Assemble your information.
Life is full of possibilities, and if there is one that is considered as infinite, that would be
the information we encounter every single day. Once you determine your specific
question, you will be able to filter out all the information that is relevant and helpful for
your decision making. After you gather and scrutinize information, all you have to do is
to; Apply the information. You have to know yourself whether all your information is
enough for you to already come up with a rational judgement. Next is you have to have;
Implication analysis. This just means to look for the long-term effect of the decision that
you are trying to make. Make sure that you have gone through all the possible short-
term and long-term effects that you might encounter once you choose this one decision.
Lastly, you have to; Explore different points of view. Knowing what other people think
about something will allow you to have alternatives. Their opinion might change your
perspective, but you have to remember that it is never wrong to accept other people’s
