An Information Buffet
One of the things I like about our fellowship luncheons is that it provides a wide variety of options. A little bit of this and a little bit of that. Think of todays column as being similar to a luncheona sampling of many things. Monthly Prayer Day I think we would all agree that there are many things we need to be in prayer about. So we may lift these things before the Lord in a spirit of unison, we are going to change the day of our monthly prayer. Starting in August we will now have our monthly day of prayer on the second Sunday from 4:30 6pm, followed by a simple meal. The date for this new afternoon of prayer is 14 August. There are a few reasons we are making this change. First, moving it to a Sunday provides a time when more people are available. Second, condensing the time we gather from seven hours to one and one-half hours will allow us to pray in greater numbers together. The format of the prayer time is still being worked out, but there will be time for quiet, meditative prayer, small group prayer, and large group prayer. Finally, we also felt that afterwards it is important to have a time of fellowship over a meal. Now, especially during this time of transition, it is important to keep gathering together. If you need a ride for this time of prayer, please let one of our deacons know. Offers of Help With the upcoming changes facing our congregation, many people have offered to help with our existing ministries and events. Thank you to those that have offered your assistance. Next week we will share an updated list and give a report on the progress made. Commissioning Service Next Sunday will be the last service before our team leaves for the Northern Territory. Please be on hand to commission the following eight people going on the trip: Glenn Sobey, Peter Malseed, Mark Atwell, Peter Cocks, Ian Jeffries, Ted Skewes, Wilma and Roger Crouch. Sunday Services We are thankful that many new faces will be before us on Sunday mornings. You will notice some of our deacons are helping to lead our worship services. Additionally, Paul Adams, Nathan McLean, Roy Hope, and Bruce Honeybun are preparing messages for our congregation. Please lift them up in prayer as they step out of their comfort zone. Remember to keep praying for our Pastor Search Committee and our Diaconate as they search for a Pastor and Interim Minister to lead our congregation. Good things are happening.keep praying. Blessings,

Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. Col. 4:2

Thank You!
Many thanks to a special group of thoughtful, crafty ladies! Our Silver Threads Craft Group has been quietly very busy, creating box fillers for the Samaritans Purse Christmas Child program. There are lots of drawstring bags of many kinds; kids clothes; pencil cases; hats & beanies; booties; hand bags; sewing kit holders; little card gift boxes; and 40 knitted teddies and animals! Add in some tennis balls, toy cars and marbles, and we have a huge box of fillers which will be taken to the Victorian Samaritans Purse Depot at Mitcham Baptist Church this Tuesday. Watch for details about Christmas Child in a few weeks...

WANTED
Young Volunteers are needed for our worship services, media helpers who will learn how to use the media desk equipment, both upstairs and downstairs. Please see Peter Dalliston for more details. Web-site helpers are also wanted and training is provided.
