Introduction

Theme- “Today is your opportunity to build the tomorrow you want” -Ken Poirot
Classroom Atmosphere
In building a great classroom atmosphere you want to build positive relationships with
students. Teaching students how to communicate and interact with each other in a positive
manner is also key to fostering a positive learning environment in the classroom. They have to
trust you in order for his to happen. That means you have to be open to their feedback and be
there for them when they need it. I want to set high expectations right away because I know
the students will respect my presents if I am firm with the rules and expectations from the
start.

Protocols
Establishing rules
I want my instruction to be short and simple. Making sure I am clear in what I want from each
student but also establish enough rules to where they won’t run freely. Students should still
understand that they need to follow the rules of respecting each other and playing fair.

Participating in class
Participating in my class will look like you are putting your best effort forward and trying to
understand the game or unit we are doing. Making sure you encourage your classmates as well.
If you do not participate in class hen you will lose your 5 points for the day. I will not take away
points if you are trying to understand the concept but simply can’t do it. As long as you try and
put your best effort forward you will be rewarded the points for the day.

Rules
I have five main rules in my classroom, and they are listed below.
1- Bring your best effort everyday
2- Be respectful to other classmates
3- Be respectful to the equipment
4- Be safe while participating in class
5- Have fun

Consequences
First Offense – Student will receive a verbal warning and a reminder of the classroom rules
Second Offense – A meeting after class will be held between myself and the student to discuss
their behavior and possible ways, they can improve behavior in future.
Third Offense – Student will be pulled from class and sent to the administrative office for
further disciplining.
Multiple offense- depending on if they students needs to be removed from the class, they
won’t be able to participate in class anymore at this time.

Gym Attire
I will expect students to have gym clothes that they change into to as well as gym shoes. If they
don’t change either one, they will lose 5 points for the day. Changing into gym clothes is
essential for establishing a good classroom. No gum, jewelry, or hats while we are participating
in gym class.
Deodorant- please bring- if you have any issues, please contact me.

Make up Work-
If you miss a day you are expected to make up the work, you have missed there are pieces of
paper you can grab from me before or after the day you missed. You will have a week to
complete this and get it back to me for 100% credit. The make- up assignment is 20 minutes of
doing any extra curricula activity. This could include- walking your dog, basketball practice or
going to the gym, etc.

Tardy
if you are running late or know you are going to be late to my class, make sure to get a note
from the teaching you are coming from. If I don’t get a note from you then you will lose a point
for day. If this becomes an issue, then I will send an email to your teachers regarding the
situations, and we can figure out a way to resolve the issue.

Cell Phones
Are not allowed in the classroom or lockers at all. If I see them before or after the bell they will
be taken for the rest of the day. I do not want to hear of any cell phone usage in the locker
rooms either or they will be taken away.

Routines
Entering and Exiting
Students are to enter the gym and go start to where the locker room to change for our gym
class period. They then will enter the gym and go to the squad spots. When exiting the gym
class, I don’t want students to be huddling by the gym doors waiting for their next class period
to begin. At this time, they can walk laps or pick a game to play instead.

Stopping and Starting

Students will be given their squad spot at the beginning of the semester. They are expected to
start here while I take attendance of the class. After I am done taking attendance of the class,
they can go on with they warmup. Warm-up will be written on the wall. Stopping class, I will
stop class with about 10 minutes left of the class period I will end with what we learned that
day. I will then have us go back to the locker rooms and change for the next period.

Equipment
Equipment will be in my closet and set out if the students need help. I will show the students
how to set up and take down set equipment if needed. I want the students to know how to do
this because they will be the ones setting up and taking down the equipment if I am gone. I also
want students to be familiar with using different equipment for the various games we play.

Partners and Groups

I will use different apps to mix up the students. I will use partner apps as well as group apps to
get students to work and play with all their classmates. Sometimes I will throw them a bone
and let them pick their partners but that won’t be very often.

Water Breaks
Students will be given one five minutes water break. If the students need more than we can
discuss that after class or before class. If keeps abusing the water fountains, then I will discuss
with him after class what the problem is.

Bathroom Breaks
Students will be able to use the bathroom before and after class. They can ask and go once in
during the class period. (More in case of an emergency)
Getting off to a Good Start
Demonstrate and Describe
I will demonstrate to the students how I want them to enter and exit my classroom. I also want
students to understand what I am asking for in my classroom procedures. I am going to
describe to the students how I want them to participate in class. I want them to understand
what I am looking for and what we will be doing for the school year.

Practice
Students will go over the first day procedures after I have done over them. I want student to
also understand how important it is to be in their squad spot when the class bell rings. It will get
us going faster and let them play longer.

Providing Feedback
Students will be observed by the teacher daily on how they are executing these routines. Verbal
reminders will be provided from the teacher and positive reinforcement will be given to
students who perform the routines and procedures correctly. Students who do not follow the
routines will be given verbal reminders and will not be able to participate with the class until
they have shown the ability to perform the procedures that are asked of them.

Class Expectations
Whistle- stop what you are doing and look at me and listen for instructions. Be safe- Each
activity/lesson has a specific set of rules. These are in place to keep you safe. Respect each
other and encourage each other. Do your best and have fun.

Maintaining Consistency
Their will be posters reminding the students about the pre and post producers in the classroom.
They also we be given a refresher at the begging of a new semester or new quarter.
