Theoretical Framework

This study was anchored on Constructivist Theory. Jean Piaget (1983)

discussed that learning occurs in active participation of the learners throughout

the construction of knowledge. Constructivists emphasize the vital impact of

prior knowledge in the learning process, prior knowledge influence how the

learners will build new knowledge upon the foundation of pre-requisite

knowledge. In short, learners must construct new knowledge according to his

existing knowledge. Moreover, Constructivism theory does not view the learner

as an empty vessel that are just waiting to be filled with knowledge rather

states that learners is an active thinker that are capable to construct their own

meaning through active engagement in the classroom and the world.

Information can be passively received but understanding cannot be because it

should come from creating meaningful connection between existing

knowledge, new knowledge, and the process included in learning.

Therefore, Jean Piaget Constructivism theory is important to this study

because pre-service teachers are expected to construct their own knowledge

about their subject matter when they are on the job training. Thus, pre-service

teachers are supposed to evoke the learner’s attention and elicit their prior

knowledge by internalizing ideas that will awake and enhance their cognitive

ability. Prospective teachers should utilize their prior knowledge that they have

been acquired during their freshman, sophomore and junior year. It will serve

as their foundation that will help them build new learning that can result into

concrete content and best teaching skills.


Conceptual Framework

The researchers used Predictor – Criterion Model (PC – model) to shows

relationship, associations, differences, and impacts. This framework is used

when relating and assessing the influence between two or more variables

(Samosa, 2020).

 The use of innovative strategies in teaching learners has become a

“must” in the 21st century in the context of Department of Education’s goal to


align the teaching methods, approaches and techniques to the learners’

needs, interests, abilities, intelligences, learning styles and to the context. This

involves the implementation of new, up-dated and customized strategies to

facilitate teaching-learning process. In order to prevent the dangers posed by

the old or traditional strategies, the advocacy for progressive and constructive

pedagogies or strategies is now the trend if only to bridge the generation gap

between curriculum planners, teachers, curriculum implementers and learners.

This simply indicates that education development embraces something new or

novel. Teachers themselves must also allow the change to happen as

education moves onward and towards facilitation of learning and other skill-

enhancement advocacies in which educators now thrive and in which learners

adjust with the end view developing them into complete holistic children.

In this study, the researchers presented how the research done. The

focuses on the extent level of instructional competence of prospective

teachers’ during teaching internship in terms of terms of content knowledge,

learning environment, assessment, curriculum and planning and diversity of

learners was independent variable and prospective teachers’ professional

well-being during teaching internship be described in terms of perspective,

self-management, supports, meaningfulness, self-care, practice competencies,

professional development learning was dependent variable.

The results of confines on the proposed Enhancement Training Program

for prospective teachers in Colegio de San Gabriel Arcangel.
