To whom it may concern,

I would like to work in this field because I did it in the past, I enjoyed it and I
think it will fit me as I am a hospitable and friendly person. During the
summer holidays, I helped a good family friend at a hostel in Greece that he
runs. My favourite activity in the hostel was checking in the tourists, because
in the few minutes that I had to connect with them, I had to obtain the
relevant information regarding their stay while it also felt like making new
friends from different cultures. I think that travelling helps people develop
and letting aside I also enjoy travelling, I made the most out of the time I
spent with the tourists in terms of learning about their lifestyle. While some
tourists were friendly and talkative, some were tired and rushing to get to
their room. The ones that were in a hurry to get some rest taught me to
respect their time and be as efficient as possible in checking them in. Some
drawbacks are that while finding it enjoyable and natural to talk to tourists,
the administrative side can be a bit repetitive. I consider that I would be a
good fit as a hotel manager due to the fact that I like working with people,
but I am aware that I still need the knowledge behind the administrative part
of it and I look forward to gaining it from your study programme.
In school, I have a good relationship with my classmates and teachers due to
my powerful socialization skills. My grades are good but I wish to improve
them more during university. I like to be punctual and to always meet the
deadline without hurrying. I usually pay attention to group projects because I
love working in a team where we exchange opinions and accumulate
knowledge. Morally I can say that I am strict with myself following the
school’s rules, having a strict schedule and always hardworking.
Besides school I participated to various volunteering activities such as helping
people with disabilities. Most of these were children. We were a team of
nine amazing people. We had to go to people on the street and start telling
them about our survivors, that's what I called them. I had people who spoke
badly to me and left immediately, but I also had people willing to donate
money wholeheartedly. Helping people that can’t help themselves made me
a better, stronger and more grateful person. I think we should all give a little
of our time to help others which are less fortunate than us.
Another main feature of mine is that I am a straightforward person, which
has its ups and downs. The bad part of it is that I might appear superficial,
while the good part is that this allows me to be efficient in my assignments.
Occasionally I used to babysit my nephew, which in turn helped me become a
more responsible person. This and the fact that my family used to travel a lot
for work made me more mature compared to my colleagues. My friends have
a good opinion of me, most of them saying I’m funny and crazy, but crazy in a
good way. I’m always trying to make people laugh just to create a pleasant
atmosphere. I have developed many hobbies in my life, for example reading
science fiction books, running, cooking and watching a lot of documentaries
about wildlife.
I look up to university as a stepping stone in my personal development which
combined with studying in a foreign country with all the challenges that
come with it will definitely hone my already existing skills and develop new
ones. Summing up, I think my background and vision fits your profile
accordingly and I look forward to starting the new university year as a
freshman in your programme.

Yours faithfully,
Sorina VASILE
