Sikolohiyang Pilipino

is defined as the psychology rooted on the experience,


ideas, and cultural orientation of the Filipinos. It is
regulated by the Pambansang Samahan sa Sikolohiyang
Pilipino, (National Organization of Filipino Psychology),
in English, which was established on 1975 by Virgilio
Enriquez, regarded by many as the Father of Filipino
Psychology.
Sikolohiyang Pilipino movement is a movement that created to
address the colonial background in psychology in the country. It
focuses on various themes such as identity and national
consciousness, social awareness, and involvement, and it uses
indigenous psychology to apply to various fields such as religion,
mass media, and health. The movement has three main areas of
protest.
It is against a psychology that promotes the colonial mentality and
decolonizes the Filipino mind. It is also against the imposition of a
psychology that is more appropriate to industrialized countries. The
movement is also against the exploitation of the masses through the
use of psychology. Sikolohiyang Pilipino is built on the idea that
psychological knowledge can be derived from the culture. It also
believes that foreign theories should not be completely abandoned.

Pananaw, earning him the title

Pantayong Pananaw comes from two Filipino root words, "tayo"
and "pananaw." "Tayo" in the Filipino language is used as a
collective and inclusive form of "we", referring both to the
speaker and listeners, while "pananaw" means perspective or
outlook. Pantayong Pananaw would then refer to a historical
theory or dialogue that consists of both active (speakers) and
passive (listeners) subjects in their own discourses. Using the
Pantayong Pananaw perspective, "kasaysayan" not history, is
now defined as "salaysay ukol sa nakaraan o nakalipas na may
saysay para sa isang grupo ng tao at iniuulat sa pamamagitan ng
sariling wika."

Dr. Zeus Salazar was the intellectual leader of the
Pantayong Pananaw movement. In his unpublished thesis,
Salazar laid the backbone of the Pantayong Pananaw
perspective. Salazar further discussed and explained
Pantayong Pananaw in a series of monographs, papers, and
other published documents, as well as in many local fora
and symposia. In 1991, a systematic definition of
Pantayong Pananaw was published by Salazar in an essay
entitled "Ang Pantayong Pananaw Bilang Diskursong
Pangkabihasnan.

Pilipinohiya
Ang salitang Pilipinolohiya ay binubuo ng dalawang
salita. Ito'y Pilipino at lohiya. Ang Pilipino ay
tumutukoy sa mamamayan at ang lohiya ay mula sa
salitang logos na sistematikong pag-aaral. Ang
kahulugan ng Pilipinolohiya ay sistematikong pag-aaral
ng Pilipinong kaisipan, kultura at lipunan. Ito'y may
layunin na palitawin at pagyamanin ang pagka-Pilipino
sa iba't ibang larangan.

Pilipinolohiya. Ang Pilipinas ay
mayaman sa iba't ibang kultura. Ang
mga ito ang nagpapakilala at
nagbubukod-tangi sa mga Pilipino sa
