    Let’s Focus on Grammar

    A. Simple past tense menggunakan be (was dan were).


    1. I was a student two years ago. (Saya seorang murid 2 tahun yang lalu.)
    2. He was happy yesterday. (Dia (laki-laki) bahagia kemarin.)
    3. She was at home last night. (Dia (perempuan) ada di rumah tadi malam.)
    4. It was in the garden. (Dia berada di kebun.)
    5. They were teachers last year. (Mereka adalah guru tahun yang lalu.)
    6. We were at hospital yesterday. (kami berada di rumah sakit kemarin.)
    7. You were a doctor last year. (kamu seorang dokter satu tahun yang lalu.)

    B. Simple past tense menggunakan VERB (kata kerja).


    1. (+) I borrowed a book yesterday.
    (–) I did not borrow a book yesterday.
    (?) Did I borrow a book yesterday?
    Yes, you did.
    No, you did not.
    2. (+) They played football last week.
    (–) They did not play football last week.
    (?) Did they play football last week?
    Yes, they did.
    No, they did not.
    3. (+) She spoke English yesterday.
    (–) She did not speak English yesterday.
    (?) Did she speak English yesterday?
    Yes, she did.
    No, she did not.
    4. (+) We wrote a letter last night.
    (–) We did not write a letter last night.
    (?) Did we write a letter last night?
    Yes, we did.
    No, we did not.
