SCENE 1 - THE INTERVIEW

1 EXT. INTERVIEW ROOM - DAY 1

In front of a closed door, the female interviewee, RAFIDATUL

nervously standing still while fidgeting with her fingers.
After taking a deep breath, she opens the door to the
interview room.

CUT TO:

2 INT. INTERVIEW ROOM - DAY 2

The interview room is empty. Two chairs are set in front of a

desk. Behind the desk, there are two more chairs. RAFIDATUL
sits on the chair in front of the desk, close to the window.

Suddenly, the male interviewee, SYAZWAN enters the interview

room. He bows and greets RAFIDATUL.

SYAZWAN
Good morning.

The FEMALE INTERVIEWEE stands up and slightly bows.

RAFIDATUL
Good morning.

The MALE INTERVIEWEE closes the door and sits on the chair
next to the FEMALE INTERVIEWEE.

Two interviewers, MISS AMIRA and MISS ASYIQIN open the door
and enter the room. RAFIDATUL and SYAZWAN stand up while MISS
AMIRA and MISS ASYIQIN walk toward the chairs behind the
desk. Everyone sits down.

MISS ASYIQIN shuffles through the papers on the table.

MISS AMIRA
Good morning, both of you. How are
you feeling today?

SYAZWAN
Quite nervous, miss.
 RAFIDATUL
Me too, miss.

MISS AMIRA
It's fine. Anyone normal would feel
nervous. Anyway, time for an
introduction. I am Miss Amira.

MISS AMIRA points to MISS ASYIQIN.

MISS AMIRA (CONT'D)

And this is Miss Asyiqin. We will
be your interviewers today,
obviously, and evaluate whether you
are what our company is looking
for.

SYAZWAN and RAFIDATUL nod silently. MISS ASYIQIN sets aside

the papers and MISS AMIRA takes the paper to examine them.

MISS ASYIQIN
Alright, let us begin now. I see
both of you are applying for the
same position. Nur Syazwan Aiman
and Rafidatul Insyirah, tell us why
are you applying for this very
position.

FADE OUT.

SCENE 2 - THE RESULTS

FADE IN:

3 INT. INTERVIEW ROOM - DAY 3

Everyone stands up at the same time.

MISS AMIRA
Congrats, Syazwan. We will be
expecting you in the office next
week.

SYAZWAN
My pleasure, MISS AMIRA. Thank you
for the opportunity.

SYAZWAN bows and walks out of the room. Rafidatul stands

silently by her chair with crossed arms.
MISS ASYIQIN walks towards RAFIDATUL to shake her hand. MISS
AMIRA follows and stands next to MISS ASYIQIN.

MISS ASYIQIN
You did well, Rafidatul. Please
don't feel disheartened by the
results.

RAFIDATUL quickly places her arms by her sides.

RAFIDATUL
No, not at all Miss Asyiqin. I am
grateful for the results. I should
humble myself before going for a
position that I am not qualified
for.

MISS AMIRA
Actually, you are more qualified
for the position than the guy.

RAFIDATUL glances at MISS AMIRA and MISS ASYIQIN in

confusion. The three of them are silent for a second. MISS
ASYIQIN clears her throat.

MISS ASYIQIN
Actually, Rafidatul, we are not
supposed to talk about this to
anyone.

MISS ASYIQIN glares at MISS AMIRA. MISS AMIRA avoids the

glare, her gaze wanders.

MISS ASYIQIN (CONT'D)

Not even to the other employees.
This is something confidential to
the HR department.

RAFIDATUL
What do you mean?

MISS ASYIQIN
This company has an absurd policy.
As HR, we are not allowed to hire
women more than 20% of the total
employees in the company. The quota
 was filled by the young lady we
interviewed before your turn, so
between you and Syazwan, we had to
take Syazwan in.

RAFIDATUL
So does this mean, I never had the
chance since the beginning? Is that
why I was hired for the lower
position?

MISS AMIRA
They are looking for ways to pay
the women less. Even if you get the
same position as Syazwan, they will
still pay you less. That's how this
company works.

The three ladies stay silent again. RAFIDATUL stares at the

floor, MISS ASYIQIN takes a quick glance at MISS AMIRA while
MISS AMIRA is looking sympathetically at RAFIDATUL.

RAFIDATUL
But why don't you fight it? You
said it yourself, the policy is
absurd.

MISS ASYIQIN
There is nothing we can do about
it.

MISS AMIRA
Well, there is. If we want to lose
our job of course.

MISS ASYIQIN lets out a sigh. She puts her hand on

RAFIDATUL's shoulder to console her.

MISS ASYIQIN
I'm sorry, Rafidatul. You've become
a victim of this sexist policy. But
it is how it is. As your senior,
I'd advise you to decline the offer
and find a company that will
appreciate you regardless of
gender.
 MISS AMIRA
Just let go, think of this as our
way to save you from exploitation. 

RAFIDATUL looks at MISS AMIRA and MISS ASYIQIN.
