Voltage and Phase

Heaters are available in the voltage and phase combinations
shown below. All are for operation at 50 or 60 Hz.
When three-phase is specified, each heating stage will be
furnished with a multiple of three elements to give a balanced
three-phase load.

Duct Heater Banks- Duct Electric Heaters
(1) Heater bank element shall be of the mineral Insulated, or equivalent, type with
Integral and fully Insulated Terminals.
(2) Heater bank element shall be connected in a three (3) phase star configuration, with
the neutral point available, for connection to the heater supply indicated in
paragraph 4.2.
(3) Each heater bank shall have its own Isolating Switch mounted adjacent to it.
(4) Heater banks located in hazardous area shall be certified for use in that area. See
Section 9.
(5) Heater bank controls shall be electrically interlocked with the air flow switch serving
the system, and shall include thermostats to control inside room air temperature.
Also, “HIGH SURFACE TEMPERATURE CUT-OUT” thermocouples shall be
mounted on the elements.
