Classroom Management Reflection

Meet Mr. Hester

In the “Meet Mr. Hester” video, I learned high expectations can be held while supporting and

showing confidence in your students. This is important because in the classroom the students are

being pushed to succeed while believing they can do it. I will incorporate this in my classroom

by setting reasonable goals with my students and supporting them in those goals.

Attention Getting Signals

In “Attention Getting Signals” video, I learned different attention getting signals, how they can

be used, and how they work. This is important in the classroom because they are fun ways to

refocus the students to the front of the class when they get distracted or are in group work. In will

incorporate this by having attention getting signals and practicing them with my students.

Classroom Management on Day One

In the “Classroom Management on Day One” video, I learned to present clear expectations to

your students, so they do not have to guess and push boundaries. This is important because there

will be less confusion in the classroom and a mutual respect formed. I will incorporate this by

being open and honest of my class expectations and why they are what they are.

Classroom Management 101: 10 Tips for Teachers

In the “Classroom Management 101: 10 Tips for Teachers” video, I learned to have short,

flexible rules, in order to avoid micromanaging. This is important because it high detailed,

specific details, create opportunities for confrontation. I will incorporate this by creating short

rules that can cover a variety of things in the class without overwhelming my students.

Whole Brain Teaching

In the “Whole Brain Teaching” video, I learned three different classroom attention getters. This

is important because they are fun and capture the attention of the students which promotes a safer

and lighter environment. I will incorporate this by using the three attention getters mentioned and

learning to have fun when getting the attention of my students.

Creating Classroom Rules

In the “Creating Classroom Rules” video, I learned how to create classroom rules while

involving my students. This is important because it gives your students a role in the management

of the class, additionally, they are now held accountable for the decisions they make about the

rules. I will incorporate this by involving my students in the creation of the classroom rules.

PBIS Skills

In the “Classroom Management in Action” video, I learned not to draw attention to students who

are being disruptive. This is important because publicly calling out students leads to emotional

confrontation and bitter feelings. I will incorporate this by acknowledging concerns or behavior

problems privately and calmly in the class.

5 Steps to Create a Progressive, Student-Centered Classroom

In the “5 Steps to Create a Progressive, Student-Centered Classroom” article, I learned different

ways to create a student-centered classroom. This is important because it creates a learning

environment that students can feel comfortable contributing to and learning from. Additionally,

they will feel like they have a role in their education. I will incorporate this by using the different

steps to create a progressive, student-centered classroom.

The Key to Classroom Management

In “The Key to Classroom Management” article, I learned the importance of using equitable and

positive classroom behaviors. This is important because it creates opportunities and time to know

your students, hear what they have to say, and develop a community. I will incorporate this by

making eye contact with each students, paying attention to each student, giving students time to

respond, and giving credit where credit is deserved.
