Argue in favour or against the idea that children should wear uniforms in schools

The problem of wearing school uniforms has always been a problem of

controversy. And, according to various periods of time, school uniforms have
either been in or out.

Generally, past times could be traced by the model of the uniform, and every
school was to be recognized in its form and colour. I remember the time of my
school years. It was a real pride to belong to a certain school and wear its uniform.
And this is what my parents and grandparents told me. They wore uniforms
throughout their school years. Our current education system does not keep this rule
now. Students don’t have to wear a school uniform unless they want that.

As far as I am concerned, I agree that students shouldn’t wear uniforms. For

one thing, most of the students nowadays feel it as a relief and a way to express
their personalities. The way they see it, items of clothing and colour help them
show who they are and how they think. They wish to show their unique way of
being by arguing that a school uniform tends to annihilate this aspect. A school
uniform would make them all equal, and this is exactly what they wish to avoid.
Secondly, students tend to reject something that is imposed by an authority, in this
case by the school, so I understand their “rebellion”. But, there is another aspect. I
think that they should wear something decent at school. I am against those torn
jeans or extremely short skirts. Students are to come at school and study, after all.
And schools are public institutions which are to be respected.

In conclusion, I am against school uniforms, but I am in favour of decency

regarding clothes worn at school.
