    How to motivate young children

    Children are motivated by activities that are meaningful.

    In this clip of a Learning Time with Timmy class the children are 2-3
    years old and they attend English class for 1-2 hours once or twice a
    week. Their home language is Spanish. In this video you will see how
    the adults choose activities that engage the children because they
    capture their attention and they have a purpose. The children are so
    involved that they don’t even realise they are doing the activities in
    English, for them the important thing is guessing the names of the
    characters or joining in with the actions to the song.
