I present about the United Kingdom.

I chose the UK because it is a country where English is the official language, which I am currently
studying.

Did you know that the official name of the United Kingdom is the United Kingdom of Great Britain
and Northern Ireland?
Japan does not call itself the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, but rather 'the
United Kingdom' or 'the United Kingdom, while other countries, except for Japan, such as the USA
and Germany, do not.

Why did Japan become the only culture that calls itself that?
Originally, the 'United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland' was a union of states
comprising Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, and England.

A union of nations is a relationship of equality where one or more states are united based on a treaty.
The name 'United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland' was first introduced to Japan in
the Edo period (1603-1868) by the Portuguese, who introduced the United Kingdom to Japan.

The Portuguese wrote 'Inglez' for England, a country within the United Kingdom of Great Britain
and Northern Ireland.
This reading of 'Ingles' was accented to create the culture known as 'England'.

The history of the United Kingdom began with the invasion of the island of Great Britain, the central
British island in northwest Europe, by the Anglo-Saxons, a Germanic people.
They were the original people from whom the present-day British people descended, and they
established seven kingdoms in the heart of the island.

These seven kingdoms were later joined by the Hundred Years' War, which determined which
territories were British and which were French, and the culture of present-day Britain was polished.
From the beginning, the four states were not to form a union, but the first two of them, England and
Scotland, became the united states, and then the other countries signed treaties with each other.

The UK tends to indicate a single country, like the USA, but let's understand that each of the four
countries is attached.
In the UK, which forms a unique state system unlike Japan, there is an event called 'Pancake Day.
Pancake Day is a traditional British event held on the day before Lent (Lent in Japanese).
Lent is a period of repentance for one's sins and 40 days of restricted eating before Easter, which
commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

During Lent, people are forbidden to eat foods they normally eat, such as eggs, dairy products, and
sugar, so on Pancake Day, there is a culture of eating extravagant pancakes with plenty of them.
This is known as Pancake Day and is mainly practiced by Christians.

Nowadays, few people restrict their diet to 40 days, but it is a very different event from Japan.
