Problem 4

• Solve Problem 4.A , if a10 is even

Problem 4.A (25 points)

Suppose that the input x(t) is given by

x(t) = 2 + 10cos(2π (200)t − π /3) + 5cos(2π (500)t + 3π /8)

(a) What condition must be satisfied by the sampling rate, fs , such that
y(t) = x(t)?
(b) Give an equation for x[n] in terms of cosine function when fs = 400 Hz.
(c) Sketch the spectrum of the sampled signal x[n] as a function of normalize
frequency ω̂ . ( fs = 400 Hz)
(d) Using the discrete-time spectrum from part (c), what is the output y(t) if the
sampling rate of the D-to-C converter is fs = 400 Hz.

• Solve Problem 4.B , if a10 is even

Problem 4.B (25 points)

Suppose that the input x(t) is given by

x(t) = 2 + 8cos(2π (300)t − 3π /8) + 6cos(2π (700)t + −π /4)

(a) What condition must be satisfied by the sampling rate, fs , such that
y(t) = x(t)?
(b) Give an equation for x[n] in terms of cosine function when fs = 600 Hz.
(c) Sketch the spectrum of the sampled signal x[n] as a function of normalize
frequency ω̂ . ( fs = 600 Hz)
(d) Using the discrete-time spectrum from part (c), what is the output y(t) if the
sampling rate of the D-to-C converter is fs = 600 Hz.
