provided after the examination which gave ample time to planout how
to procede with the project after that different topic based on which
project can be prepared were provided and finalised further research
regarding the topic was done. A questionnaire was made and
responses were received all the information collected either from
internet questionnaire responses was collected.

A draft was prepared and submitted after making some adjustments

INTRODUCTION

Teenage is a very creative part of everyone. It is the time where most of us leave the real
world and enters into their colourful fantasy world. This world becomes their life. Teenagers
fill their fantasy world with their possible fairy tales. This stage of ones life give them a
chance to live their rest of their life as colourful as they imagine it now. So we should all
enjoy our teenage as creatively as beautiful as possible.

In adolescents fantasizing is a way to escape reality and run away from the harsh reality of
life. This ranges from fantasizing about a celebrity to fantasizing about themselves achieving
great things and getting praised by others.

The adolescents get pleasure from fantasizing and use it as a means of recreation but in some
extreme cases some teenagers are so engrossed in their fantasy that start to mix reality and
fantasy and this leads to many issues
MEANING OF FANTASIZATION

Imagination is developed early on to help children to process events, achieve mastery of their
emotions, enrich their social understanding and develop their communication abilities. Since
imagination represents a pivotal ability in the mental functioning of typically developing
children,

we can speculate that a systematic study of imagination could play an important role in the
understanding of the global maturation of the mind not only in normal functioning, but also in
“borderline” and pathological conditions. Probably some extreme types of imagination could
be close to hallucinations.

We are thinking, for example, of attenuated psychotic symptoms (APS), delusional and
hallucinatory phenomena in which some insight of what is real and unreal is still maintained

The term prodromal hallucination refers to a hallucination associated with a subsequent

development of a frank psychosis. In conclusion, a strong ability to distinguish imagination
from reality may be important for normal maturation of the mind.

So probably, in a dimensional perspective, only the extreme of a continuum representing

APS, that we can also name “perception-like” phenomena, could be defined as at risk or
prodromal. This global uncertainty of the data in the literature opens a large field of
exploration for students of the psychological development of children and adolescents
because of the obvious questions that arise: how many children and adolescents really
experience confusion between reality and imagination, how many times in their lives, and
what is the impact on their developing mind?

The theoretical frame of this paper is that a good beginning to studying these phenomena
could be to define some parameters for a correct qualitative and quantitative description and
definition of the several kinds of fantasy.
EFFECTS

Excessive fantasizing leads to the blurring of line between real life and fantasy. Just like
Sophie in the lesson ‘Going Places’ many of the tens get to invested into their intricately
crafted and complex fantasies .

None of them realize the blurring the line and go headfirst leading too many instances of
getting disappointed by reality. Sophie in ‘Going places’ fantasized her meeting with a
famous footballer even though they never met in real life.

Similar to Sophie many of the teens dream of meeting famous people but the often are
disappointed. But there is an upside to fantasizing as it breeds imagination among teens and
lets them have some amount of recreation in the harsh periods of adolescence.

Fantasizing at the end of the day is a form of dream wish fulfilment, people dream of things
they don’t have. All humans are in search of things that they don’t have and among
adolescents this is done in from of fantasizing about such things.
REASON

Sophie has been portrayed as the central character in the story ‘Going Places’. She perfectly
represents  the daydreamers like her. Sophie always lives in a dream world, and fantasizes
impossible things.

She is not ready to accept the reality of her family’s condition and dreams of becoming a
boutique owner, a fashion designer, an actress or a manager, all in the same breath. She is a
romantic dreamer who fantasizes about the young Irish footballer, Danny Casey.

Sophie in her dreams hero-worships Danny and describes her imaginary meeting with him
very vividly and looks forward to another meeting with him.

Sophie’s mindset is the same as most adolescents. Adolescents earn for things that are out of
their reach.
REFLECTIONS

The main take away from this is that fantasizing is a vital part of an adolescents life and is
way for them to increase their scope of imagination and is a very crucial period of their
teenage phase.

But as we all know too much of one thing can be a poison and some adolescents lose their
rational thinking and get too engrossed in these fantasies due to many factors such as jealousy
and envy.

As humans we all earn for things we cannot have and it is very much prevalent in the
adolescent stage of life and this earning leads to the over attachment to fantasizing just like
Sophie in the literary work ‘ Going Places’ .

So adolescents must be guided to the right path by their guardians and should not be in a
situation where they abuse fantasizing and cause their downfall by mixing in reality and
fantasy together. This can be done by providing all necessary needs and making them
satisfied with their current life and not turn to fantasizing.
CONCLUSION

The life children in the adolescent period revolves around fantasies and daydreams. The teenage
period is where people are often found dreaming which is far from reality. This period is all about
desires and achieving the impossible

. In addition, teens usually have a hero they look up to or adore in this age. However, the main
background of the story is indeed a reality.

The lesson ‘Going Places’ tells us about a girl, Sophie, who belongs to a lower-middle-class
family. She dreams of owning the best boutique in the whole town. However, she lacks money
and means. Sophie looks up to a young football player, Danny Casey.

She dreams about him so much, she believes she has actually met him. Finally, these fantasies
are what cause her disappointment. This disappointment faced my Sophie the same as the one
experienced my adolescents
