The Quartile for Ungrouped Data
Ungrouped data – is the data you first gather from an experiment or study.
- The data is raw – that is, it’s not sorted into categories, classified,
or otherwise grouped.
- It is a set of data that is basically a list of numbers.
Quartile is the score points which divide a distribution into four equal parts. Twenty-five
percent (25%) of the distribution are below the first quartile, fifty percent (50%) are below
the second quartile, and seventy-five percent (75%) are below the third quartile.
Q1 is called the lower quartile and Q3 is the upper quartile.

a. 25% of the data has a value ≤ Q1
b. 50% of the data has a value ≤ Q2.
c. 75% of the date has a value ≤ Q3.
Note: You are given 15 minutes. First 5 minutes for understanding the article and demonstrating the activity.
Second 5 minutes for finalizing and writing your final output on the manila paper. The last 5 minutes will be
presenting in front of the class.

8. Illustrate Q1 , Q2and Q3 using the formula given in your activity sheet and
compare your answers from the above question to check your output.
