ANNOTATION OBJ 9 PROMPT 2

Giftedness is an intellectual ability significantly higher than average. Gifted children have the
following qualities: learn quickly and independently than most students their own age; have well-
developed vocabulary, as well as advanced reading and writing skills; are very motivated, especially on
tasks that are challenging or difficult; and hold themselves to higher than usual standards of achievement.

With these qualities in mind, I designed my lesson plan with differentiated instruction that would
accommodate my gifted or advanced learners in class. In all the parts of the lesson, I see to it that I use
intellectually stimulating questions to ask my advanced learners. I use questions that are open ended and
require more thoughtful responses. Like in the review part of my lesson, advanced learners are required to
create their own example of situations or experiences that show irony rather than letting them identify the
type of irony shown in the pictures.

I also see to it that these advanced learners would have their own independent activities so that
they won’t dominate their average classmates in group activities that’s why in presenting my lesson, I
asked them to work individually rather than in groups.

I also construct activities from the two upper levels of Bloom’s Taxonomy which -- creating and
evaluating—which is shown in the evaluation part of my lesson. This would make the activity more
challenging and stimulating for them.

Lastly, talented learners were also given importance in the lesson design. I made sure that they
will have a choice to utilize their different talents as they demonstrate their learning in class. Hence, I
used a differentiated instruction on the application part of my lesson wherein pupils are given the
opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge using their different talents.
