Election - May 2022 Speech

Good morning, everyone. The 2022 Philippine Election Day is upcoming, and
everyone has mixed emotions until the day comes. The series of events, particularly
those issues between politicians and candidates, is getting hotter and more intense. I
am ….. , a true-blooded and warm-hearted Filipino citizen, catching your attention to
listen. Think for a second. Have you thought about the best thing that you have done for
our beautiful, loving Philippines? Even if we can’t die for our country like Andres
Bonifacio and Dr. Jose Rizal, we can change our world, particularly young people,
because "Youth is the hope of our future." through voting for the right people sitting in
the government because they can be our voices. Maybe each and every one of us is
still undecided on who to vote for, and some are sure about which politicians they will
support and vote for, but at the end of the day, we are still one nation, true Filipino
citizens, so let's respect their decision. Our Filipino values, particularly being family-
oriented, should never change, even if we have different political candidates that we’re
supporting. We should never forget that we all have the right to vote, and we should use
that to elect people to a government that we can be proud of, so we should vote for
progressive and not corrupt candidates.

Moreover, today we’re living in the modern era where technologies have become
popular and we get different information from various social media platforms, especially
today that we are in the midst of a pandemic. We can’t distinguish between some of the
information being credible or not. We should do a fact check because fake news is
everywhere where everyone can spread false information, and sometimes we easily
believe what we see and what we hear. What we’re seeing or watching on Tiktok is not
enough to prove that they are the best candidate to be elected. We should not only
believe in those things, but we must be aware of what is really happening in the
Philippines, and we must study its history so that we can teach it to the future young
Filipino kids, so that they will never forget where they belong. It doesn’t matter if what
you’ve done for your country is big or small, because small things can become big
things. Furthermore, don’t only believe what politicians say but also criticize them
through their actions. Once we make the right decisions, we are doing the best we can
do for our country. We deserve a better government, that is transparent, accountable
and pro-Philippines."Before I end, I will give you this quote: "Truth must prevail and our
country must learn from history, learn from the past to live better in the future."
Therefore, as a first-time voter, I am aware of what is happening around our country,
and I did a background check to choose wisely. Once again, I am ……. , a true Filipino
citizen, and my vote for President goes to Vice President Leni Robredo. Thank you.
