The students of Dela Salle University – Dasmariñas had a seminar named Voters’

Awareness Forum last April 16, 2019 at Ugnayang La Salle. This was implemented for the new
voters to have a broader knowledge and deeper understanding on what we should consider
when it comes to voting politicians. The audience of the seminar are the youth at the legal age
or those we call “millennials”. We know the issue every election that Some politicians who does
vote buying increases for the past years, they did this to get the sympathy and votes of the
people but would this improve or develop our country and make it beautiful? Or we have just
put our country and the people in danger? The answers were discussed in the seminar, the
future of our country and the people in it are those who will be affected based on the results of
the votes, that’s why we need to think well of who are the politicians that deserve the place in
the government.

This seminar became the way to encourage and convince the youth to make their vote,
to use their right for voting and not to waste the chance to vote. They reminded the youth that
through our hands, through our votes, and through our decisions depends the future of
Filipinos. They speakers are saying that the youth should act and use our vote correctly,
because one vote have a big impact for a politician to win if he’s or she’s worthy of the spot.
We all know that the President of the Philippines and the politicians in the senate are those
who runs the country. They have mentioned that voters should “vote wisely”, know the
politicians, and find out what’s the qualities of a good politician. They have shared that if there
is a statement “think before you click”, at this time, we should “think before you vote” said by
the one speaker of the seminar.

The implementation regarding to this talk helps the youth to open their minds and make
the do an act foe the change of the Philippines or for the desired change of our country. For
me, the persons behind this implementation should not only focus to the youth but they should
also include adults as their target audience. We know that not all Filipinos from the past years
have graduated or have sufficient education, they are also the ones the becomes the victims of
vote buying campaigns and they are sometimes not really aware on who the person they
wanted to vote really is. For the youth that is being known as the hope of the country, this is a
big help for them to give attentions to the issue or situation. Choosing the politician to vote
should be done by knowing them first will stay in the minds of the youth. Searching of data and
information of the politician to know if he or she is a good leader is a thing that should be done
for voters, for young and adult. We shouldn’t vote those politicians just because they are
popular or we heard that they should be the one to vote for. Voting a politician is not a joke,
this is a big responsibility to be done for every people will be involved in the situation. A person
must think well before voting, and a person should vote who is worthy or the position. For me,
we shouldn’t vote “wisely” rather we should vote “conscientiously” because this is based in
moral for what is right and wrong.
