Young Voter

Hello everyone

As the younger generation, we have a very important role in determining the future of our
country. Entering the year of democracy. This is the time for us to determine what the fate of our
country will be in the next 5 years. Of course, this is not easy to do, we have to be wise and
understand what our country needs. However, I often see that many first-time voters don't take
their choices seriously. There are many new voters who make their choices not for rational
reasons, but rather they choose according to the trends circulating on social media. Of course
this is very dangerous for the future of our country. So what should we do? Become a smart
young voter? Or being a young voter who follows trends that don't make sense?

Assalamualaikum wr. wb. Dear ladies and gentlemen of the jury, I respect the entire competition
organizing committee, as well as friends who I am proud of.
Let me introduce myself, Etika Nur Elma, representative of SMA Negeri 2 Borong. I stand in
front of all of you, with today's theme that I will present is "beginner voters".

Becoming smart young voters is an important step in determining the future of the country.
Decisions based on good knowledge and understanding of the candidates and the issues they
face are key to making a positive contribution to democracy.

New voters are those who are participating in a general election for the first time or do not have
significant experience in the electoral process. They are often young people who have just
reached voting age. These new voters may not be familiar with election procedures, competing
candidates, or ongoing political issues. It is important for first-time voters to get accurate and
objective information about candidates and relevant issues so they can make wise and
responsible decisions in a democracy.

As a beginner voter, you must start to realize that at that age, voters have become responsible
for the country. One form of responsibility during the election period is to voice or elect the
nation's leaders with a fair assessment. New voters must be able to choose potential leaders
who have high integrity and morality who are able to protect the community. Apart from that, the
importance of the work program promoted by each presidential candidate needs to be further
assessed regarding its impact, benefits and good implementation for the interests of the country.

Even though we are beginners, we should not underestimate voting rights. If first-time voters
abstain, they will not exercise their voting rights in the general election. Our voting rights can be
misused by irresponsible people.

Therefore, I invite us all to become part of democracy together! Elections are our rights and
responsibilities as citizens. By voting, we help shape the future of the country. Don't miss this
opportunity to have a voice in political decisions. Register to vote, learn about the candidates,
and show that your opinion matters. Together, we can make a positive difference in our society.
