ACTIVITY A. (50 POINTS)

Direction: Provide what is asked.
1. What are the appropriate measures of the Commission of Election to ensure the security and honesty
during the election process?
As per issued to the Commission of Election or COMELEC to ensure the security and honesty
during the election process, they should abide by the law— the Republic Act No. 8436. It is an
act authorizing the COMELEC to use an automated election system in local or national
election. As per stated in Section 1 of this Republic Act, “ It is the policy of the State to ensure
free, orderly, honest, peaceful and credible elections, and assure the secrecy and sanctity of
the ballot in order that the results of elections, plebiscites, referenda, and other electoral
exercises shall be fast, accurate and reflective of the genuine will of the people.” It is also
stated in Section 3 that to ensure there are no favoritism, there are qualifications, rights, and
limitations of the special members of the Board of Election Inspectors. It stated that, “  No
person shall be appointed as a special member of the board of election inspectors unless
he/she is of good moral character and irreproachable reputation, a registered voter, has never
been convicted of any election offense or of any crime punishable by more than six (6) months
imprisonment or if he/she has pending against him/her an information for any election offense
or if he/she is related within the fourth civil degree of consanguinity or affinity to any member of
the board of election inspectors or any special member of the same board of Election Inspector
or to any candidate for a national position or to a nominee as a party list representative or
his/her spouse. The special members of the board shall enjoy the same rights and be bound
by the same limitations and liabilities of a regular member of the board of election inspectors
but shall not vote during the proceedings of the board of election inspectors except on matters
pertaining to the national ballot. And more to look upon the law.
2. What do you think should be the personal and professional qualifications of candidates to run
for President?
As a voter and a concerned citizen in this country, in which nowadays, war is everywhere, I
don’t need a weak and opinionated leader. I want a leader who has the political will and had
the power to rule our country with pride and honor. For me, being a president is not just a
leader that helps during crisis or during emergency, a leader is more than that. Sure, it is a
good attribute but a leader should not have no limitations. He or she should be strong enough
to have an alliance with other countries and scrutinize if it’s an enemy or a friend. As per the
professional qualifications, he or she should have an impressive educational background, no
criminal record, and had a good history in terms of politics. Being an epitome, is one of a good
quality a leader should have. Additionally, I want a leader who has the heart to serve the
Filipino people in truth and I can see the sincerity that he or she wants to lift and bring back the
country that we deserved. I believed and I know that as a leader, you need to be faithful and
open to everyone; may it be poor or rich, we are all equal and that our voices should be heard
and be resolved.
3. As a student, what are the implications of voting wisely in the development and progress of our
country?
Netizens or people in the internet seems to have a heated argument about their presidential
choice. Some cut ties with their loved ones just because they had different choices. Some
engage in a debate anywhere and everywhere. But, as you look upon it, it’s alright to be
engaged with the political issues. I mean, you do have a dream, everyone has, and this
election will surely have a great impact. The thing is, your political stand speaks about what
kind of person you are. It reflects your morals, values, and principles. It just doesn’t stop about
yourselves, it’s not only you— but the whole society will be affected of your choice. As a
student, we should vote wisely, not just for our own good but for the country’s sake. One vote
is enough to have an impact and make a big risk to the future of our country. Voting wisely and
taking consider its background and political records, we are now on our way for a changed. As
a student, a citizen of the Philippines and I am on the legal age where I can vote the candidate
that I like to vote, I think this is the time to be involve in this kind of event especially that it can

change everyone's life. We have the power to choose the candidate that we think who can
changed our beloved country and resolved the unresolve problems that hinders the Philippines
to rise. And show us the light, a sparkling light that shone the goodness and the perfect society
that we hope.
