INTRODUCTION

The Bureau of Learning Support Service- Youth Formation Division (BLSS-YFD),

in cooperation with the Commission on Election (COMELEC) noted that our youth vote
greatly affect the politics in our country. Recognizing the role of the youth in shaping
the country’s future. “It is important that we hear the voice of our youth, nurture and
develop their critical thinking about national affairs, and remind and teach them to
practice their right to suffrage,” Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones said. Without a voice
we can not have some power.

Meanwhile, the COMELEC discussed that the new youth voters must be at least
18 years of age on or before the May 09. National and Local Elections; and a resident of
the Philippines for at least one (1) year and a resident of the place in which you intend
to vote for at least six (6) months.

In this 21st century, youth must understand about political development. In terms
of the requirements for recruiting or appointing the future leaders we must choose the
better leader for the better country that we aim. Also, it is important to us to emphasize
that we are not just trying to predict conclusively whether a candidate has a integrity
realizing that it is surprising you to learn that some people you chose ended up
disappointing in the end? That is why we need to choose wisely because at the end of
the day we are the one who feel the effect of failure of one leader.

Young people must educate about choosing the better and effective leader of our
country, so that they will function as an effective citizen of the country. The youth must
understand on how our government works, on how they can legitimately influence it,
and how they change the country in a better society. By that, the youth can actively
participate in the development of the country, and to promote and influence the good
doing of our country by giving our effort of piece and development.

The future of one country depends on how they listen to the youth, because
youth have a knowledge about choosing the better leader for the future of youth and
the country. Some youth choosing their candidate because of the history of their family,
which is not. We need to look at the credentials of a candidates we need to look the
qualification for that position if they are deserving so that when they will be in that
position we all know that our candidate effectively show their capability and
willingness to that position.

Leadership is the process by one people that influence the attitude, and behavior
of others. And also it help us to point in the same direction and the ability to get other
people to do something significant that might not other people do. They help us also to
energize toward our goals. Without followers, the leader will not be a leader. There are
some saying that the way to become a better leader is to find a parade and run to the
front of it. But walking at the front is not really leadership unless the some people in
front is actually choosing the direction.

In choosing a leader for one country, we must need to find out their vision and
mission clearly and in a compelling manner so the other may engage by it. The main
reason why youth are scrutinize about their platforms because we are talking about the
future of the country (Philippines), we are talking about the future of the youth

In this research, we must recognize the importance of leadership when it comes

to vote for our political leaders. We also need to realize that it is important to know who
is in position so that we can participate by choosing the best candidate because we have
the right to see for the beautification of our country (Article. II, Section.11) “The state
values the dignity of every human person and guarantees full respect for human
rights.”

BODY
Today’s generation of youth there are over 1 billion young people between 15 to
24 years old worldwide and half of whom are young women who lived and experiences
political interests. The world's youth are at a crucial turning point as they inherit a
variety of difficult issues, such as environmental deterioration, rising inequality, and
insecurity. The Philippines is home to one of the biggest populations of the member
nations of ASEAN, with 105 million people.

Youth are active by participating the Filipino youth activist in the society and
government in some ways/forms like rallies, they join rallies because they want to
show their expression of freedom. The Youth create an organization for the youth such
as the Kabataan Party-list, Kabataan Party-list is an organization that engage by young
people in the government and in influencing policies. They give them a chances to be
represented in the congress to be the voice of the voiceless inside the government and to
have an opportunity to formulate and develop policies that they think is beneficial for
the whole country.

Despite the Philippines ‘ history of youth who struggle to change the system of
government and laws which protect the right of every youth/person’s freedom of
speech and the right to actively participate in politics. Our youth are still fighting on
what they think is right and reasonable for the better and future of our country.

The youth are not only be always protesting against the government, but they
should be in the position of positive collaboration with them. Some suggests that
current laws toward the youth shall be strengthen by the legislative department and
need to be properly implement by the executive department. And organization can help
the youth to have knowledge about leadership and to understand some issue that is
timely and relevant to our country.

By having an organization, it helps the youth to deal with an issue that especially
important to them. However, there are a lot of advantages by having a youth
organizations. I list some of these advantages below.
 Being part of organization, you can help young people to develop
important personal and interpersonal skills. This includes the ability to
think creativity and critically.
 It can also help young people to gain self-esteem and self-confidence.
 Youth organization can offer opportunities for leadership that young
people might not get otherwise.
 Youth organization also help to change the public perception of young
people to an important part of making life to be better in the community.
 By involving young people, The community allowing the young people to
carefully develop their leadership potential, and by that they will grow
and learn on how they can become thoughtful, and ready to be a leader of
the society.

As I said above, youth organization can really help young people to boost their
leadership skills by having a self-confidence and self- esteem and by that we can
prepare to be the next leader of our society.

Our youth are hungry and ready for the opportunity to lead. Youth are looking
for the beauty of our country and taking charges for our society. We need to work with
our young people by helping them to navigate the system in increasingly falling to
advocacy like having some training and joining youth organizations that can really help
them to improve their knowledge.

The relationship of our youth in politics is a complex and problematized because

the power is constantly being withheld from our young people which it is limits the
type of organizing a political involvement they have. We also need to learn on how to
use social media in a positive way especially for those young people that use the
different platform of it.

New forms of social and political involvement in public life are emerging
particularly among the young suggesting that youth politics is not confined solely
to actions that aim to influence government policy but encompasses issues of
wider social concerns (Kovacheva , 2005)

Do today's youth have an interest in politics and a desire to get involved?

Students and probably the entire nation are relatively unaware of campaign money
monitoring, especially as a unique and focused movement for electoral and democracy
reform. Despite their youth, young people have strong political opinions and are united
by common political issues of national significance. They made it clear that young
people have very specific expectations for how politicians should behave. not only
when they are running for any position, but also when they eventually take over their
role as public servants. They are also conscious of the fact that politicians frequently
veer off the beaten road.

Politics have always been influenced and altered by youth. Some of the most
important leaders of our time got their start in activism when they were young.
However, the impact of young people at this time, who are empowered by social media,
is exponential. We used social media to engage young and first-time voters during
campaigns for public. These voters came across my campaign online and chose to
follow it based on what they observed. We need to contact young people in novel and
pertinent ways if we want to properly catch their interest in their civic authority.

Social media is no exception, it is no surprise that it’s effect on Filipino youth has
been far reaching and “Fake news” is a timely and relevant issue to our country because
of some news that is “Fake”, our youth are believe in what they see and share it without
checking it on where the news came from.

When election is coming, social media plays an important role by informing

young people. We need to explored on how youth hearing and seeing about the election
from many sources using the different platform of social media like the Facebook,
Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, etc.

When we vote for our political leaders, each of us understands the value of
leadership. We take part in a competition, an election, to select the best candidate
because we understand that it matters who holds office. The generations that come after
them will be supported by young people. It's always important to engage people in
their civic power in a genuine way.

The youth feel strongly about corruption and take it seriously watch the
politicians behave and being innocent. Some youth think that election campaigns are a
breeding ground for corruptions. They also believe that the politicians will get back the
money that they invested in campaign period when they will win in elections. That is
why we need to be more grumpier to choose for our next leader for the betterment and
beautification of our country which is the Philippines.

We have opened their eyes to the importance of being watchful during elections
in this generation. We must also recognize the value of having informed voters. As
youth leaders, we educated ourselves on current events and political issues, particularly
those that affect the Philippines, in order to make our nation better.

We need to encourage young people to freely express their trust in democracy

despite the fact that they perceive some of the terrible behavior of our future leaders. I
believe that many have stated the opinion that a democracy is still the finest system for
a better society.

We need to despite a lot of issues that the youth see some bad doing of our
future leaders, to freely expressed their faith in democracy, because I believe that many
expressed views that the democratic way of life is still the best system of a better
country and youth continue supporting the election, they also need to voiced out their
aspiration for clean and honest election. In this regard, They need to look up to the
Commission of Election (COMELEC), to enforce the law and to ensure that our leaders
obey rules and laws of elections.

In this generation, we serve as the eye-opener and made them realize on how
important it is to vigilant during election. We also need to see the importance of having
an educated electorate. As a youth leader, we became informed and abreast about what
happen or some issue in the political area specially here in the Philippines to become a
better country

CONCLUSION

In this study, I am pointing out the common perception of youth to have interest
in politics and what are really the issue in the Philippines. In collaboration with the
Commission on Elections (COMELEC), the Bureau of Learning Support Service-Youth
Formation Division (BLSS-YFD) recognized that the politics in our nation is
significantly influenced by the youth vote. recognizing the youth's influence on the
future of the nation.

Youth in this century need to be aware of political progress. In terms of the

criteria for selecting or appointing the future leaders, we must select the best candidate
for the better nation we seek. It is also crucial for us to stress that we are not merely
attempting to determine with certainty whether a candidate has integrity. After all,
wouldn't it surprise you to learn that some of the candidates you selected ultimately
disappointed you? Because we ultimately bear the consequences of a single leader's
failure, we must make wise decisions.

In order for young people to be productive citizens of the country, they must be
educated about selecting a better and more effective leader. The next generation has to
learn how our government functions, how they may lawfully affect it, and how they can
improve society in the nation. By doing so, young people may actively contribute to
national development as well as promote and have an impact on the positive things our
nation does.

Leadership is the process by which one person affects the mindset and conduct
of others. Additionally, it gives us the ability to work together and influence others to
take action that they otherwise might not. They also provide us energy to work toward
our objectives. The leader will not be a leader if there are no followers. Some claim that
the best way to develop as a leader is to look for a parade and rush to the front of it. But
unless some of the individuals in advance are truly choosing the course, leading by
example is not really possible.

In order for the other to be inspired by the leader we choose for one nation; we
must ascertain their vision and objective in clear and compelling terms. The primary
reason why young people's platforms are scrutinized is because they affect the future of
the Philippines and the youth in general.

Having a youth organization has a lot of benefits. Below, I list a few of these
benefits.

• By participating in an organization, you can assist young people in gaining

crucial interpersonal and personal skills. This includes the capacity for creative
and critical thought.

• It can aid in young people gaining confidence and self-worth.

• Youth organizations can provide young people with leadership opportunities

they might not otherwise have.

Young people are now seen as a crucial component in improving communal life,
thanks in part to youth organizations.

• By including youth, the community enables the youth to thoughtfully develop.

As I mentioned above, youth organizations may significantly improve the

leadership abilities of young people. By developing our sense of self-worth and self-
confidence, we can better position ourselves to take on the role of society's future
leaders.

Do young people today have a passion for politics and a willingness to

participate? Even though campaign money monitoring is a distinct and narrowly
focused movement for electoral and democracy reform, students and probably the
entire country are largely unaware of it. Young people, despite their youth, have strong
political ideas and are brought together by shared political concerns of national
importance. They made it quite obvious that youngsters have very particular
expectations for the behavior of politicians. not only while they are vying for any job,
but also once they begin serving the public in that capacity. They are also aware that
politicians regularly deviate from the path less traveled.

As they observe politicians acting honorably, the youth are deeply concerned
about corruption and take it seriously. Many young people believe that elections serve
as a fertile ground for corruption. They also think that when politicians succeed in
winning elections, they will recover the funds they spent during the campaign. For the
improvement and beautifying of our nation, the Philippines, we must thus be angrier
while selecting our next leader.

Their eyes have been awakened to the necessity of exercising caution during
elections in this generation. The importance of having informed voters must also be
acknowledged. We educated ourselves on current affairs and political concerns,
particularly those that concern the Philippines, as youth leaders in order to.

However, each of us need to recognizes the importance of leadership when

choosing our political leaders. We participate in a contest, an election, to choose the best
candidate because we are aware that who occupies office matters. The next generation
will be supported by the younger generation. Genuinely involving people in civic
power is always crucial.

Overall, we have opened their eyes to the need of being watchful during
elections in this generation. We must also recognize the value of having informed
voters. In order to make the Philippines a better nation, we, as youth leaders, kept
updated about events and issues in the political sphere, especially here. Despite
numerous issues where the youth perceive some unethical behavior on the part of our
future leaders, we must encourage them to freely express their faith in democracy.
After all, many have expressed the opinion that a democracy is still the best
system for a better nation, and while the youth must continue to support elections, they
must also express their desire for fair elections. They should look up to the Commission
of Elections (COMELEC) in this respect since it upholds the law and makes sure that
our elected officials follow election laws and regulations.

We must acknowledge the significance of leadership in this research when

choosing our political leaders. We also need to understand how crucial it is to be aware
of who is in charge so that we can choose the best candidate in order to contribute to the
improvement of our nation's appearance (Article II, Section 11): "The state values the
dignity of every human person and guarantees full respect for human rights."
