The structured or formal process of choosing a person for public office or accepting or rejecting a

political proposition through voting is meant to refer as "elections."

Since we are in our mid-teens and approaching the age of 18, most of us are probably confused and
wondering why this event is so important and why our vote matters, right?

Our country, the Philippines, is a democratic and republican state in which sovereignty rests in the
people and all government authority comes from them, as stated in Section 1, Article 2 of the Philippine
Constitution of 1987.

Elections allow voters to choose leaders and hold them accountable for their actions while in
government. It is a method for each of us to choose who we want to be our leader, that will help in
guiding us to a better future.

It’s not too much to ask to be able to breathe when we don't have the requisite air to inhale.

I remember one of Our dear Benigno's speech that delivered those folks a light that will serve as a
beacon of hope for each and every one of us. One of his quotes states that the Filipino is worth dying
for. Simple but widely powerful, It provided us with not just hope, but also the courage to fight for our
principles, integrity, and lives.

This means that We explore within ourselves for evidences of what is good, necessary, and just by this,
the importance of voting wisely can be practiced.

Voting allows people to have their voice and, by expressing their partisanship, to satisfy their need to
feel a feeling of belonging. Nonvoting also meets some people's desire to declare their alienation from
the political community. For these reasons, the protracted struggle for the right to vote and the demand
for equality in electoral participation can be understood as manifestations of a deep human desire for
personal fulfillment.

By knowing the right of us in voting and importance of elections we can elect a leader that is right and
just. Leader who would make us feel safe and offer us the serenity and freedom.

We shall make these decisions individually, knowing that there will be no consensus. The vote will be
divided. Politics is a question of personal preference, and everyone has one. But, in some ways, I believe
we all cast our ballots with the same goal in mind: that our choices be wise and our elected officials be
wiser.

We can actively work to become wiser. Voting is an act of practical wisdom, as is voting wisely. If we
chose knowledgeable leaders, the rest of society will become wiser as well. Then everyone benefits.

And these are the reason behind the question why and how election and our votes so important in
choosing ang building our society in a better society.
