MEANINGS OF NAME
Doctor- he completed his medical course in Spain and was conferred the
degree of Licentiate in Medicine by the Universidad Central de Madrid
Jose- was chosen by his mother who come from a Christian calendar
Mercado-adopted in 1731 by Domingo Lamco (the paternal great-great-
grandfather of Jose Rizal)which the Spanish term Mercado means ‘market’
in English
Rizal-from the word ‘Ricial’ in Spanish means a field where wheat ,cut
while still green, sprouts again
Alonzo-old surname of his mother
Y-means “and”
Realonda –-it was used by Doña Teodora from the surname of her
godmother based on the culture by that time
and warehouse manager. He was born into a low-income family in Manila and
received no formal schooling. But he was a good reader. Contrary to José Rizal, a
nationalist poet and author who favored changing Spanish authority in the
order's structure and ritual. The Katipunan first expanded slowly, but by 1896 it
was thought to have 100,000 members and branches, spread across Manila,
central Luzon, and the islands of Panay, Mindoro, and Mindanao. The majority of
its members were laborers and peasants, and it favored reform over revolution
