NAME OF THE BARANGAY
 Barangay Talon Dos is located at Las Piñas City, Metro Manila.

 The Barangay Hall is located at Carnival Park St., BF Resort Village, Talon Dos 1740
Las Piñas City, Metro Manila.

 The Grid coordinates of Talon Dos as stated by Philatlas “situated at approximately


14.4375, 120.9867, in the island of Luzon. Elevation at these coordinates is estimated at
24.0 meters or 78.7 feet above mean sea level”.

BACKGROUND OF THE BARANGAY

1. History of Barangay Talon Dos


 This is where the Famous Bamboo Organ is made. It was also built by Fr. Diego Cera
and was completed in 1824. It was also a part of the war for Philippine Revolution as it
was occupied by Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo’s forces.
 It was also a Municipality of Metro Manila before being named “Barangay Talon Dos”
in April 3, 1978 by virtue of Presidential Decree No. 1135.
2. Highlights of Activites
 June 26, 2019 - Talon Dos participated in International Day against Drug abuse and Illicit
trafficking.
 June 26, 2019 - Bgy Talon Dos Peace and Order & Public Safety conducted Ugnayan
ng TODA, Polisya at Barangay.
 January 28, 2020 – Barangay Talon Dos was declared 2nd Drug free by PDEA.
3. Facts About the Barangray
 The total population in Barangay Talon Dos was 53,091. It represents 9.02% of the total
population in the city of Las Piñas.
 The population of Talon Dos grew from 23,744 in 1990 to 53,091 in 2015, an increase of
29,347 people. The latest census figures in 2015 denote a positive growth rate of 2.83%,
or an increase of 7,236 people, from the previous population of 45,855 in 2010 according
to chart made by philatlas.

 It is one of the twenty barangays of Las Piñas City with a land area of 391.61 hectares.
It is situated on the southern side of the mid-section of Las Piñas as stated by

As stated in philatlas.com, “the age group with the highest population in Talon Dos is 25
to 29, with 5,269 individuals. Conversely, the age group with the lowest population is 80
and over, with 432 individuals. Combining age groups together, those aged 14 and
below, consisting of the the young dependent population which include infants/babies,
children and young adolescents/teenagers, make up an aggregate of 20.82% (11,054).
Those aged 15 up to 64, roughly, the economically active population and actual or
potential members of the work force, constitute a total of 73.23% (38,876). Finally, old
dependent population consisting of the senior citizens, those aged 65 and over, total
5.95% (3,161) in all.”

 Barangay Talon Dos has multiple health facilities to assist the community members who
are ill or have medical conditions. The two shown below is the main Health facilities in
the Barangay. The First one is the BF Carnival Health Center which is near the
Barangay Hall.

 The Second one is the Las Pinas City Medical Center.

 The Barangay has multiple commercial medication businesses that will make medicine
around Talon Dos more accessible. These locations are just three of the most known
locations for accessing medicine. The first one is Mercury Drug located in Bf Resort
Village.

 Lastly, it is Renelah’s Drugstore.

1. Landscape
 The landscape in the Talon Dos barangay are more or less uphill and flat land.
2. Sources of Drinking Water
 Barangay Talon Dos mostly gets their sources of drinking water from commercial Water
Refilling Stations. There are two most known water stations in the Barangay and the first
one is Aquabest.

 The second waterstation is Moonwell Drinking Waters.

3. Ecological Related Programs and Projects


 The Las Pinas-Zapote River System Rehabilitation Project
The purpose of this project is to help clean the Zapote river in Las Pinas city in the Talon
Dos Barangay on which the community can benefit immensely from this project.

 Urban Forestry Development: The Bambusetums
The purpose of this project is to help lessen soil erosion near the river as well as help the
community in future farming and plantation projects.

 Talon Dos has a lot of schools that the youth can benefit for the betterment of their
futures. One of the most known school In this barangay is the Las Pinas Science
High School.

 The Second known school is Westfield Science Oriented School.

 The most known markets in the Barangay are first, the SM Hypermarket which is very
strategically located since it is easily accessible to the residents of Barangay Talon Dos
as well as the travelers since it is beside the main road.

Support of Garo (Mandi) People of Madhupur Garh, Bangladesh who fear eviction from
their land

The lastest project of this NGO is giving help and support to the people in Bangladesh
india who are being evicted from their own properties due to the government who are

expanding the modern land but are sacrificing the forests and the indigenous people living
in them.

1. Identification of needs by the Community and Barangay in reference to the
Five Basic Needs of Man
 One of the things that barangay Talon Dos has difficulty in acquiring is fresh natural
water supplies since the rivers are at the moment, polluted with trash and other harmful
non- biodegradable materials.
 Shelter is also one of the five basic needs that Talon Dos Barangay has a problem with
since there is a significant number of squatters in the Barangay.

1. Projects and programs


a. Infrastructure Development
 The LRT-1 extension- This infrastructure project is a highway extension that will give
the residents of Talon Dos a easier access when it comes to travelling while also
lessening traffic in the area since there is more roads to choose from.
b. Livelihood
 KALIPI- This is a livelihood program that is established by the Las Pinas City mayor
Imelda Aguilar which aims to help men and women but women specially to have an
alternative form of income through sewing craft, hair cutting, candle making, embroidery
and ice cream making.

c. Elderly and Persons with Disabilities
 Free parking for Elderly and PWD- The Las Pinas city local government has stated that
senior citizen age 60 and up as well as Persons with Disabilities are allowed to park in
areas for free rather than pay for a parking fee.
 Las Piñas Persons with Disability Federation Inc.- This is a corporation that was
established to help PWD as well as senior citizens when it comes to their
financial, medical, and physical needs.
d. Youth Development Programs
 Cambridge- This youth development center was made to help children who are
struggling spiritually and want to find their purpose through the word of God. It is a
youth center that promotes peace and prosperity as well as unity of one another.

Man-Made Hazards - These are events that are caused by humans and occur in or close to
human settlements.

Natural hazard – This is a natural phenomenon that might have a negative effect on humans
and other animals, or the environment. Natural hazard events can be classified into two broad
categories: geophysical and biological.

 Floods – One of the most common hazards in Talon Dos barangay is the constant floods
on low level areas which can hinder the communities’ residents to do their daily activities
which can affect the productivity of the barangay.

river drive in Talon Dos which is a man-made hazard since it pollutes the only natural
water source that the barangay has.
