Tutorial 6 – Three Dimensional Viewing Operations

Q1. Consider the pyramid with coordinates A(0, 0, 0) , B(0, 0, 1) , C (0, 1, 0) and D(1, 0, 0) .

(a) Perform the multiview orthographic projection on the

(i) xy -plane. (ii) xz -plane. (iii) yz -plane.

(b) Perform an axonometric projection formed by a   45o rotation about the y -axis,
followed by a   35.26 o rotation about the x -axis, and then orthographic projection
onto the xy -plane.

(c) Find the oblique cavalier and cabinet projections onto a viewing surface in the xy -plane
with the angle between the z axis and the horizontal is 45o in the projection.

In each case, determine the coordinates of the image of the pyramid and draw the projected
view of the pyramid.

Q2. Consider the block below.

y

0.5
0.5 1
0.5 x
1 1
z

(a) Perform an axonometric projection formed by a   30 o rotation about the y -axis,

followed by a   45o rotation about the x -axis, and then orthographic projection onto
the xy -plane. Draw the axonometric view of the block.

(b) Find the oblique cavalier and cabinet projections onto a viewing surface in the xy -plane
with the angle between the z axis and the horizontal is 30 o in the projection.

In each case, determine the coordinates of the image of the block and draw the projected view
of the block.
