OBSERVATIONS:
The test uses viral RNA amplification (ORF1ab gene and N gene) of SARS-CoV-2 virus. The result is viral status
from the time of harvest, thus one or more undetectable results do not exclude the possibility of COVID-19 infection.
One or more negative results, especially from samples taken from the upper tract do not rule out the possibility of SARS-CoV-2 infection.
A false negative result can be explained by the appearance of mutations in the virus or inhibitors in the PCR reaction. In patients
with firm suspicion of SARS-CoV-2 infection, additional samples may be taken and tested from the lower respiratory tract.
