    Mitosis and meiosis are the two types of cell division. Mitosis is used for growth, repair, and asexual reproduction and results in two identical daughter cells with the same number of chromosomes as the parent cell. Meiosis creates gametes for sexual reproduction and reduces the number of chromosomes by half to produce four non-identical daughter cells each with half the number of chromosomes as the original parent cell.

    Cell Division

    The two different types of cell division are mitosis and meiosis.

    Growth and repair can take place thanks to mitosis.


    Meiosis is used to create sex cells.

    Asexual reproduction use mitosis.


    Gametes are created during meiosis for sexual reproduction.

    Mitosis results in the production of cells with the same amount of chromosomes and genetic
    material (46 in humans).
    Daughter cells from meiosis have half as many chromosomes as their parent cells (23 in
    humans)

    The daughter cells and the original parent cell are identical to one another.

    Every chromosome divides.
