Lesson 5: Voice as a tool in Teaching

Do as instructed you to do. Take note that, there are lecture-discussion which will help you
understand more the terminologies you are task to define.Then there are activities which you
need to do and upload. Do not produce any sophisticated gadgets to be utilized in any of the
activities, An ordinary cellular phone with camera could do.

the definition of the following

1.     Volume
- The volume of voice in teaching is extremely important because students must hear
every word you say clearly in order to fully comprehend the lessons.

2.     Pitch
- Speaking to students in a direct and sincere tone or pitch of voice will help them build
trust and meet your expectations, which is why we should be mindful of our pitch in
class.

3.     Tempo/speed
- When we want to introduce key ideas or explain complex concepts that are critical to
the students' understanding, we must deliberately slow down from our natural speed to
a more measured pace that is why tempo/speed is a must in teaching.

4.     Quality/timber
- "If you have a voice where you can change the pitch, raise the pitch, lower the pitch,
then clearly teaching and children's learning is more effective."
