C). Reflective Statement

C1:

To succeed in the competitive job market, I have to portly and apply various personal

effectiveness principles in my development. Below are my self assed development needs, which

are based on my personal effectiveness in accordance with (Martínez et al., 2020):

8

I need to have a clear vision of where I want to be. This is because it is indeed a helpful

thing to know where I want to be and what I want to do; I have to make my vision much detailed

as possible across all areas of concern in my life, such as; career, my hobbies, and even

relationship. The details will help me to hold onto my vision during hard times.

I have to understand well the skills I need to develop so as to achieve my vision. I have to

understand the importance of achieving my vision, as I ensure that the skills I am targeting are

well linked to my purpose, which is also linked with my vision. This will make me concentrate

on the right skills as I am aware of the timescale I have to achieve my set vision.

I have to have a clear idea of the standards I need to achieve, which is much different

from my current standards. This will help inform me of the magnitude of the task I have to

undertake to achieve the targeted standards. This affects how long it will take me and the

amount of effort I have to put in.

I should have a level of priority for every area. Therefore, I need to prioritize the task I

have to carry out by listing all the areas of my development, as I ask myself questions concerning

each area of development on a scale of one to five (Martínez et al., 2020). I can do this by adding

together the scores of every area to understand better the areas I need to focus on as they are

more prominent than others.

I need to have a detailed idea of how I will get from where I am for every skill and the

area to where I want to be. I need to break this area based on time to know which skills I need to

acquire first as most important to help me achieve my vision and reach where I want to be in the

future. This will help me check my progress as well as keep myself on track.
9

C2:

To address my personal development needs, I tend to adopt the following strategies based

on personal effectiveness. These strategies include:

(Hadad, Shamir-Inbal, Blau, & Leykin, 2020).

(Gulakov, Vanclay, & Arts, 2020).

Communication: I need to be good at communication and speak, listen, and write

(Mmanyi, 2020). This will help me understand what other people are saying, understand their

feelings, and convey my ideas and feelings. As a good communicator, I will communicate

confidently and clearly through a positive tone and better in a given situation.

Interpersonal: These are social skills, as well as interpersonal skills (Mmanyi, 2020).

Which are nonverbal and verbal behavior that will allow me to interact with other people.

Interpersonal skills will affect my ability to develop a relationship and make impressions about

others in a social situation.

Organization: I need to gain organizational skills that include the tideiness of my physical

and digital spaces and my ability to do the planning, prioritizing, and scheduling. Good

organization will help me save time, prevent miscommunications, and improve my efficiency

(Gulakov, Vanclay, & Arts, 2020).

Problem-solving: I need to handle situations that are challenging(Gulakov, Vanclay, &

Arts, 2020). As a good problem, solver, I will stay calm whenever I encounter obstacles and

assess all my options to find the best solution.

Self-confidence: with self-confidence, I will be able to believe in my abilities, decisions,

and actions. Having confidence in myself, I will be able to pursue my ambitious goals, as I will
10

have the confidence to try new things and have a belief that I can succeed (Gulakov, Vanclay, &

Arts, 2020).

Adaptability: being adaptable, I will have the ability to adjust very quickly and easily to new

things. With this, I will be able to handle changes as I get along with a variety of personalities

and thrive in all areas (Gulakov, Vanclay, & Arts, 2020). As I remain calm in challenging

situations.

Integrity: with integrity, I will be trusted by other people as I will stand by my values. I

tell what is right and truth without fear of the challenges it will bring (Gulakov, Vanclay, & Arts,

2020). With integrity, I will have a good reputation as well as opportunities for advancement.

Work ethic: I need to be reliable, determined, disciplined, responsible, and a quality

person (Gulakov, Vanclay, & Arts, 2020). This will help me be productive as I will have a

positive attitude toward my goals and vision.

Leadership: having leadership strategies will enable me to have the ability to guide other

people (Hadad, Shamir-Inbal, Blau, & Leykin, 2020). As a good leader, I will motivate other

people and help them achieve their goals to improve their morale and confidence.

Determination: To be effective, I have to be determined (Hadad, Shamir-Inbal, Blau, &

Leykin, 2020). As it will allow me to focus on achieving my goals without distraction by

spontaneous desires. I will be able to be determined by developing personal self-discipline.

Optimism: I need to believe there is more to achieve, as there is more in the world to

fight for (Hadad, Shamir-Inbal, Blau, & Leykin, 2020). Optimism will help me in believing that

the future will be better. Thus I will be able to take action to ensure I attain a better lot.

Stress management: for personal effectiveness, I need to have stress management skills

as stress can lead to being ineffective. Thus I need to be able to manage the stress I face.
11

Persistence: I need to have a persistent spirit, which will give me hope of keeping on

trying whenever I try to make my goals work and fails (Hadad, Shamir-Inbal, Blau, & Leykin,

2020). Being a highly effective person, I will be able to keep on moving forward regardless of

the obstacles I will face to make things work out for me. When I am able to overcome the

barriers and maintain being focused, I will be able to achieve my set goals.

Problem–solving: Having the option to take care of issues on the fly expands my

proficiency when pursuing my objectives (Mmanyi, 2020).

Time management: Time the executives is my capacity to plan and control how I invest

their energy to achieve their objectives (Mmanyi, 2020) successfully. Without legitimate time the

executives, accomplishment of goals would take excessively long and subsequently influence my

adequacy.

Planning: Planning should be accomplished for each moment I have to stay away from

wastage (Mmanyi, 2020). Arranging brings me tranquility, empowers me to achieve more, gives

me a unique chance to rest, and will extraordinarily expand my viability.

Innovativeness. Also called considering new ideas (Mmanyi, 2020). To succeed, I have

to appear as something else, think diversely, and let innovation and interest into my psyche.

These attributes can be created by placing myself in a climate that permits me to think

imaginatively and permits me to concoct novel thoughts, dreams, and arrangements. Adequacy

and imagination go connected at the hip.

Self-inspiration. Viable individuals can discover inspiration inside themselves without

depending on external components (Mmanyi, 2020). On the off chance that I can inspire myself,

executing objectives will be a lot simpler as inspiration is the thing that gives me the drive to
12

continue pushing. I need to Understand what persuades me and use it to propel myself out of my

usual range of familiarity.
