1.0 INTRODUCTION
1.1 COMPANY BACKGROUND
Shopee is an e-Commerce platform that has been established since 2015. According
to Antonio, J, S. (2022) Shopee is a consumer-focused, technologically advanced e-
Commerce platform that has gained popularity across Southeast Asia, including in the
Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, and other countries. It is similar to e-Bay or
Amazon in North America, it is attempts to provide access to a wide variety of goods
and let both independent sellers and well-established companies sell on its platform.
In the early stages, the business only operated in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand,
Taiwan, Indonesia, Vietnam, and the Philippines. But now, it is currently used in a
few nations in Latin America and Europe, also it has recently gained popularity in
India.
Shopee works similarly to other online shops that customers can use search
engines to find what they're looking for or browse by category. The website makes it
simple for customers find discounts by showing flash sales and special offers of the
day on their homepage. Customers can shop regionally as well. Customers may select
their nation of residency on the home page to be instantly sent to the retailer that
accepts their currency. (Remitly, 2023)
Shopee's success can be credited to its social-first, mobile-first strategy for
fulfilling the needs of the current digital era. Shopee uses social media, like many
other companies, to widen its audience and attract new clients. The business provides
merchants social media advertising programmes and collaborates with well-known
brand ambassadors on YouTube and Instagram to raise awareness. Real-time
shopping and a selection of payment options are additional features of the Shopee
app, which is accessible on both iPhone and Android. (Remitly, 2023)
Why is Shopee significant? The reason for that, Shopee is the most successful
e-commerce platform and an analogy of success. Shopee is a well-known online store
that also provides free delivery, coupons for discounts, prizes, and games. As you are
aware, Shopee has both buyers and sellers, which means that numerous transactions
take place there every day. Shopee gets money via commissions from e-commerce
sites, transaction fees, fulfilment costs, payment processing costs, and cost-per-click
advertising on the Shopee platform. As a result, every time you click an ad on Shopee,
Shopee makes money. (Remitly, 2023)

2.0 COMPANY ORGANIZATION CHART
According to Damilare, F. (2020) Organizational charts help to show how each person
in the company has a clear line of responsibility. It lays out a plan for how the task is
to be done and the procedure needed to make sure that the information is distributed
to the appropriate people within the company. The best approach to make sure this
happens effectively is to have one manager or supervisor and a small number of
employees who report to them directly. The following are the organizational chart of
Shopee company.

2
3.0 PLANNING
According to Kaehler, B. & Grundei, J. (2019), management defined as a
process of organizing people's efforts to achieve goals and objectives through the
effective and efficient use of resources. In management, it is important to have
manager to handle project or any organization to run smoothly. The work of a
manager never stops. Almost all studies of managers in action have discovered that
they regularly move between activities, shifting their attention to address problems as
they emerge, and engaged in a high number of brief tasks by Parboteeah, K. P. (2019).
(2019). As stated by Kaehler, B., & Grundei, J. (2019), management includes
organizing, planning, leading, and controlling in order to achieve results.

According to Lloyd & Aho (n.d.) overview of the four function of

management, planning is the methodical process of deciding on the goals and actions
that the organization will follow. To make a choice regarding an organization's future,
the planning process must start with an analysis of the surroundings. Organizations
risk losing focus and cohesiveness if they don't have a clear plan in hand. Planning
makes it possible for managers and workers to coordinate their efforts in order to
achieve shared objectives, promoting cohesion and giving them a feeling of direction.
The manager would be unable to give future guidance without an adequate
understanding of the context. Analysis should be the first step in the planning
function. This study should take into account both internal elements such as team
culture, values, and performance, as well as external aspects such as the competitive
environment, legal regulations, economics, technology, societal values, and
demography (Lloyd & Aho, n.d.). For example, e-commerce Shopee has maintain
their company over the past 8 years must had knowing how to plan or use a method to
achieve an organizational goals in order to gain more user and customer to use their
platform which offers an end-to-end online shopping experience directly on the
mobile app.

3
Not only that, Shopee make a marketing strategy planning to strengthen their
company by making a Digital advertising, Influencer marketing, promotions and
discounts, user-generated content and social media (EcomEye, n.d.).
i. Digital Advertising
a. Shopee use this method by displaying an online ads, social media ads,
and search engine marketing, to reach potential customers and drive
traffic to its platform (Statista, 2021.).

ii. Influence marketing

a. Shopee efficiently reaches out to potential consumers and delivers traffic
to its platform using a variety of means, including as online
advertisements placed on websites, social media ads targeted at certain
demographics, and search engine marketing approaches. These
techniques increase exposure and encourage users to interact with
Shopee's offerings (EcomEye, n.d.).

iii. Promotions and Discounts

a. It’s a sales strategy in which brands temporarily reduce the price of a
product or service to attract prospects and customers (SheerID, n.d.).
Shopee offers frequent promotions and discounts to attract customers
and drive sales, such as flash sales, daily deals, and coupon codes
especially in the end of the month (EcomEye, n.d.).

iv. User-generated content

a. Shopee strongly encourages a customer-engagement culture by
encouraging consumers to create and share information about their
purchasing experiences. This involves developing and disseminating
product evaluations, ratings, and feedback, which are critical in
establishing trust and credibility with potential consumers. This user-
generated material is a vital resource for prospective shoppers, assisting
them in making educated selections and building confidence in the
Shopee platform (EcomEye, n.d.).

4
v. Social media
a. Shopee uses social media sites like Facebook, Tiktok, and Instagram to
reach a larger audience, build brand recognition, and increase user
interaction on their platform. Shopee can successfully promote its value
offer, attract new customers, and develop a strong online community by
using the power of social media (EcomEye, n.d.).

Planning plays a crucial role within organizations by effectively addressing

uncertainties and minimizing risks. As mentioned by Faizul, H. (n.d), uncertainty is a
prevalent factor that impacts all types of profit-driven or non-profit organizations. A
significant component of planning is the implementation of SWOT Analysis, an
abbreviation for strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. This analysis aids
in identifying the strengths and weaknesses of both the business itself and its
competitors. For instance, in Artris, F. K. & Sri, S. H. (2021) overview of Shopee
Online Marketplace Application mentioned that in order to strenghthen and minimize
risks, Shopee itself makes it easy for users to make transactions by presenting 7 types
of payment methods including Credit/Debit Card, Bank Transfer, ShopeePay,
ShopeePayLater, Cash On Delivery (COD) and many other methods.

Shopee has established their missions and goals to continuously improve their
platform and become the preferred e-commerce destination in the area, through
continuing product optimization and localized user-centered methods. Shopee has
created prospects for all businesses, according to Amadora, L. (2020) news. They
provide e-commerce for sellers, small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs), and
brands. This has accelerated the rise of e-commerce in Southeast Asia and Taiwan for
sellers, SMEs, and brands. As a result, the region's e-commerce scene has become
more diverse, with both new and established vendors looking to expand their
companies online. Shopee's aims are being expanded by broadening its spectrum of
support measures to assist all sellers succeed, regardless of expertise or size. As an
illustration, Amadora, L. (2020) stated that Shopee helps new and old merchants cope
with worldwide pandemics by providing 6x sales boost during Shopee's 9.9 Super
Shopping Day in September. Shopee University is also being upgraded to empower
varied groups of local sellers, including digitalizing the curriculum and expanding its

5
online Seller Education Hub so that all sellers may improve their e-commerce
abilities.
Shopee focuses on sales growth while identifying the organization's mission
and goals in e-commerce. Shopee attempts to boost sales and generate income by
enabling transactions between shoppers and sellers on its platform. Not only that, but
they include a strong emphasis on innovation and technology. Shopee seeks to
continuously develop and harness technology to improve the features of its platform,
such as implementing AI-driven suggestions, enhancing search capabilities, and
offering new services (Amadora, L. 2020.). It is important to note that Shopee’s
specific objectives may evolve over time as the company adapts to changing merket
conditions and customer demands.

In a nutshell, effective planning is essential for organizations to navigate

uncertainties, minimize risks and achieve their goals and objectives. Shopee, an online
shopping platform, has proven over the years how crucial preparation is to success.
To grow their business and attract in additional users and customers, they have used a
variety of methods and approaches. Shopee has established itself as a top destination
for online shopping by putting a strong emphasis on planning. Shopee works hard to
satisfy customer requirements and succeed in the online market.

6.0 CONTROLLING
According to EcomEye (n.d.) Shopee company keeps track of its marketing
through online advertising activity. In order to attract potential customers and increase
traffic to its platform, digital advertising uses social media ads, online display ads, and
search engine marketing. Because Shopee permits diverse products to be offered on
its platform, customers are compelled to stay in touch with the Shopee community on
a regular basis. Shopee tracks the number of ad views, profile platform visits, and
product purchases to determine the success of this digital advertising. Certain social
media ads can also track the amount of likes. These will notify Shopee of the products
users are most interested in over time. As a result, advertisements will most likely
feature the most popular products. The goal is to persuade potential users or
consumers to choose Shopee platform over others and to learn about its benefits.

Furthermore, Shopee keeps tabs on users' reach through their activity. To

entice customers and boost sales, Shopee frequently provides frequent promotions and
discounts for sellers. Daily specials, flash sales, and promo codes are all included in
this. The rationale is obvious: all customers or users are likely to go to the shopping
platform with the greatest promotions and discounts. Even for students, purchasing
necessities through the Shopee site is thought to be substantially more economical.
This type of attraction may aid Shopee in maintaining platform popularity and user
reliance.

Not to mention, Shopee encourages users to write about their shopping

experiences and share them with others. They can provide feedback and ratings for
products, which promotes credibility and trust. As a result, Shopee can monitor its
users' interaction with the Shopee platform over time.

In addition, when users utilise the 'Help Centre,' Shopee monitors them. The
Help Centre is the place where users may express their ideas, voice their satisfaction
and dissatisfaction, ask multiple questions, and, if desired, provide suggestions to
improve the platform. From this, Shopee can communicate with their specific users

11
who require assistance and attention. This type of monitor aids in providing better
service to users than previously.
According to Shopee (n.d.) Shopee provides its employees with a variety of
courses and trainings that are aimed at helping them acquire the critical skills needed
for both personal and professional effectiveness. Think about stakeholder
management, creative or innovative communication, and so forth. Additionally, the
Shopee company offers a variety of technological and practical opportunities to help
employees increase and sharpen their knowledge and proficiency in a variety of job-
related tasks. Employees must learn this because we live in a world filled with
developing technology. Plus, a variety of deep dive workshops are offered throughout
the region, along with networking events, coaching, and mentorship. This is a big aid
in developing potential leaders who will make significant contributions to the Shopee
company. Their ability to do their job well and their adaptability in dealing with
challenges that arise in Shopee are the best indicators of the success of such courses
and trainings. They will ensure that all they have learned is utilised and beneficial in
the business community. This fosters a highly collaborative environment. The
company’s goal is their main focus.

12
CONCLUSION
In conclusion, Shopee's success as an online shopping platform may be
credited to great planning, organisation, and leadership. To attract and keep users and
customers, they have used numerous techniques such as digital advertising, influencer
marketing, promotions, and social media interaction. Shopee has been able to adapt
and stay ahead in the ever-changing e-commerce sector by regularly analysing the
competitive environment and client preferences. Furthermore, via defined
responsibilities, collaborative relationships, and effective resource allocation, their
organisational emphasis has generated a productive work environment. The formation
of a strong management team and sophisticated infrastructure has improved decision-
making processes while also increasing employee confidence and motivation.

empowerment, has fostered an environment of innovation and growth. Overall,
Shopee's dedication to good planning, organising, and leadership has established them
as a market leader in the online shopping business, and these activities will remain
critical to their long-term development and success.
