Based on the official website of the Philippine Statistics Authority, the most recent record of
Census of population and housing was in the year 2020. In comparison to the previous records of
population and housing, the Philippines’ Population still increases but the growth rate is slowly showing
less than previous records. As shown in the data above, the total number of persons living as of 12:01
AM on May 01, 2020, is 109,035,343. In 2015, the Philippines’ Population record was 100,981,437,
therefore showing an increase of 8,053,906 and resulting in a growth rate of 1.63%. Compared to the
previous census of 1.72% from the year 2010 to 1015, this translates into a decreasing slope of the
growth rate in the Philippines. The records from Philippine Statistics Authority also show the total
population per region and it reveals that CALABARZON is the most populated and dense place in the
Philippines with a record of 16,195,042, followed by NCR with 13,484,462 population, and Central
Luzon with a record of 12,422,172. These three take up a total of 38% of the Philippines’ Total
population. On the other hand, the top three regions with the least population are MIMAROPA,
CARAGA, and CAR with records 3,228,558 / 2,804,788 / 1,737,660 respectively.
