FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)

1. WHAT ARE THE DATES OF MY EMPLOYMENT WITH HIGH SIERRA POOLS (HSP)?
The dates of your employment are the ones listed in your Sponsor job offer form and DS-2019 form.

2. WHEN IS THE EARLIEST DATE I CAN ARRIVE AND MOVE INTO A HSP APARTMENT?
The earliest date is Friday, May 20, 2022 unless you have an earlier work start date. The price before May 20, 2022 will
be $10.00 per person, per day.

3. WHEN SHOULD I ARRIVE TO BEGIN MY JOB?


You must arrive BEFORE the work start day listed on your job offer. Your work start date is not your arrival date. If you
completed American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification Course, you should arrive no earlier than THREE days before your
Job Offer Start Date, unless earlier arrival is approved by Human Resources Department. Early arrival requests should be
requested via email at usa@highsierrapools.com.

4. WHAT IF MY FLIGHT IS DELAYED?


If your flight is delayed, call the phone number listed in your arrival instructions as soon as you can to let us know your
new arrival time. Depending on your new arrival time, we will still pick you up, or we will give you instructions for the
next day (if you will arrive overnight).

5. HOW DO I PAY FOR THE HOUSING DEPOSIT, RENT AND UNIFORM?


These charges may be paid up-front or you may choose to have housing deposit and rent deducted from paychecks. You
will receive a detailed list of any fees such as these when you register at the HSP Office upon arrival to the U.S.

6. IS A HIGH SIERRA POOLS REPRESENTATIVE GOING TO PICK ME UP WHEN I ARRIVE IN THE USA?
FOR THE BEST ARRIVAL EXPERIENCE, WE ADVISE THAT YOU ARRIVE FROM MONDAY TO THURSDAY BETWEEN 9 AM
AND 3 PM.

During the peak arrival period May 20 – June 5, High Sierra Pools will pick up employees with scheduled arrival
between 9AM – 12 midnight, from the following locations:

In the Washington, D.C. metro area, from: Dulles International Airport (IAD)*, Reagan National Airport (DCA), the
Rosslyn Metro station, Union Station or the Greyhound station.
In Newport News, Virginia Beach and Hampton area, from: Norfolk International Airport (ORF) and Hampton
Greyhound Station
In Massachusetts from: Boston Logan (BOS) and South Station (Amtrak, Greyhound).

During Off-Peak Arrival Period** May 9-19 or June 6-17, High Sierra Pools will pick up employees Monday – Friday
with scheduled arrival between the hours of 9am – 6pm and Saturday with scheduled arrival between the hours of
10am – 2pm, from the following locations:

In the Washington, D.C. metro area, from: Regan National Airport (DCA), the Rosslyn Metro station, Union
Station or the Greyhound station.
In Newport News, Virginia Beach and Hampton area, from: Norfolk International Airport (ORF), Hampton
Greyhound Station
In Massachusetts from: Boston Logan (BOS) and South Station (Amtrak, Greyhound).

*Before May 20 or after June 17, employees arriving at Dulles International Airport (IAD) should call the HSP office after
arrival and then take the 5A Dulles-DC Metro bus to the Rosslyn Metro Station for pick-up.

**During Off-Peak Arrival Period, after-hours or Sunday pickups might be available if requested and approved at least
two weeks in advance by emailing usa@highsierrapools.com.

Arrival at any other period must be requested at least two weeks in advance by emailing usa@highsierrapools.com.
If the request is approved, the employee must arrive at an Off-Peak pickup location Monday-Friday between the
hours of 10 AM – 2 PM OR arrive at HSP office Monday-Friday between the hours of 9 AM - 6 PM.

7. IF I ARRIVE AT JFK AIRPORT IN NEW YORK AND I WILL WORK IN WASHINGTON, D.C., CAN SOMEBODY FROM HIGH SIERRA POOLS
PICK ME UP FROM JFK?
Unfortunately, no. We will be able to pick you up once you arrive in the Washington, D.C. area. Employees are
responsible to get to their work location area and they will be picked up from there.

8. CAN I LIVE CLOSE TO MY POOL?


Your housing will be located near your pool. Depending on the distance, you will be able to go to work by walking, bike,
or public transportation. Your supervisor will let you know how you will get to work from your apartment.

9. I MADE FRIENDS AT CERTIFICATION COURSE. CAN WE ALL LIVE TOGETHER IN HIGH SIERRA POOLS HOUSING?
At this time, your placement is completed and further changes cannot be granted. However, you can plan to see them
at employee events during the summer.

10. CAN I LIVE IN MY OWN HOUSING?


At this time, your placement is completed and further changes cannot be granted.

11. WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING WITH ME FOR MY STAY IN A HSP APARTMENT?


HSP apartments have basic furnishings: a TV and a TV stand, coffee table, sofa, foldable table, chairs, lamps, kitchen
appliances and cookware, microwave, new air mattresses, new bedsheets (fitted sheet, flat top sheet, and pillowcase),
a pillow, and a telephone for local and toll-free calls, and WIFI. If there are other items that you will need for your stay,
please bring them with you or plan to purchase them after your arrival. SIM cards will be available for purchase in the
HSP Office (see your applicant portal for details). We strongly recommend that you bring a blanket, towels, and any
personal items you will need.

12. CAN I HAVE A SECOND JOB?


Second jobs must be pre-approved by your visa sponsor and must not conflict with your work schedule or good
performance at HSP.

13. HOW MANY HOURS PER WEEK I WILL HAVE?


With good performance, you will average from the entire season at least:
- 48 hours per week for pool locations in Virginia, Maryland*, and Massachusetts (40 regular + 8 overtime);
- 52 hours per week for pool locations in Montgomery County, MD (52 regular);
- 40 hours per week for pool locations inside the city of Washington, D.C. (40 regular and up to 5 overtime.)
There may be some weeks when you work less, and other weeks more, so that at the end of the summer your weekly
average is in the committed hours range based on your work area.

*Excluding pool locations in Montgomery County, MD.

14. HOW MUCH MONEY SHOULD I BRING WITH ME TO USA?


We suggest that you bring no less than $400.00 cash.

15. WHEN WILL I RECEIVE MY FIRST PAY CHECK?


You will receive your first paycheck 2-3 weeks after your start work date. Paydays are every second Monday.

16. I HAVE NOT ATTENDED LIFEGUARD CERTIFICATION YET. WHERE AND WHEN WILL I COMPLETE CERTIFICATION?
Your certification course will be within few days after your arrival and will take place in our Arlington, VA office. You
should arrive at least 4 days before your job offer start date and bring a bathing suit and towel for the course.

17. WHAT IS THE ADDRESS WHERE I WILL LIVE?


Your exact address will be given to you upon arrival. The office addresses for HSP are as follows:

Some job offers included a tentative housing address. These addresses are subject to change until we receive the final
lease (usually in May), so please use this address as a general area only.

18. WHEN IS THE LATEST DATE I CAN MOVE OUT FROM A HSP APARTMENT?
The latest date is 9AM on Wednesday, September 14, 2022. You can remain in housing after that time only with written
pre-approval from the HSP office. The housing cost after September 13, 2022 will be $10.00 per person, per day.
