S.T.I.S & Contraception Project Objectives - Layout

DO NOW:
● What are 2 questions you should ask yourself before having sex?

OBJECTIVES:
● SWBAT create a fictional superhero representing a specific contraception researched; (behavioral, barrier &
hormonal); advantages, risk factors, effectiveness through reliable resource websites.
● SWBAT create a fictional villian representing a specific S.T.I.researched; (bacterial, viral & parasitic),
symptoms, treatment, prevention, through reliable resource websites.
● SWBAT learn the different S.T.I.’S & contraception options through the superheroes and villains created by
their classmates by analyzing the warning signs/symptoms, risk factors/advantages etc. through a gallery
walk worksheet.
● SWBT apply concepts and resources learned in class to determine the importance of using protection to
avoid pregnancy and S.T.I.’S.

● Standard 1 - Personal Health and Fitness- Students will have the necessary knowledge and skills to
establish and maintain physical fitness, participate in physical activity, and maintain personal health.
● Standard 2 - A Safe and Healthy Environment- Students will acquire the knowledge and ability necessary to
create and maintain a safe and healthy environment.
● Standard 3 - Resource Management- Students will understand and be able to manage their personal and
community resources.
