5 functions of Verbal Communication

1. Control or regulation
- This is used to govern or control people's conduct. It is also used to limit the types and number of
activities that individuals engage in.
2. Social interaction
- It is an occurrence that occurs between two or more people. They each employ culturally acceptable
means to communicate or do proper acts. Social interaction results in the sharing of information.
3. Motivation

- It is a message that aims to increase employee engagement by inviting them to

participate in anything you are thinking about. Engagement entails both emotional commitment
and attention, as well as intellectual involvement. In reality, strong task engagement is always a
blend of emotional and intellectual participation.

4. Information Dissemination

- It is the method through which facts are disseminated to the general population. Over the last several
decades, the methods by which individuals and organizations disseminate information have
proliferated. Oral and visual communication was the original modes of information distribution
employed by humans, followed by written communication.

5. Emotional Expression

- It can be communicated either orally (through words and tone of voice) or nonverbally (through body
language or facial expressions). Body language, such as a slouched posture or crossed arms, can be
utilized to convey various emotional messages.
