Chapter 1. Introduction
According to WHO, each year, 1.2 million people are killed and as many as 50 million are
injured because of traffic accidents, which is a significant societal problem today. Many of these
accidents could have been avoided if automatic systems were used to improve the driver's
abilities while ensuring vehicle stability and driver safety. These things derive from the
awareness of the surrounding environment, which require the combination of many sensors.
Nowadays, there are several methods were introduced to enhance the efficiency of a vehicle
using the multi-sensor technique and automatic systems. One of the earliest approaches involved
placing cameras, ultrasonic sensors, and infrared sensors. However, these sensor ranges cannot
capture the entire geometry of objects on actual roadways. In the paper [1], the advantages, and
disadvantages of sensors proved that can optimize the perceived information of the surrounding
environment. Today, combining 3D LiDAR with cameras is a common method for developing
self-driving automobiles [4] or ADAS. Advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) are systems
developed to automate/adapt/enhance vehicle systems for safety and better driving. The
integration of different ADAS sensors such as Radar, LIDAR, and cameras is expected to help
society reach the near-to-accurate mark in vehicle
automation.https://www.grandviewresearch.com/industry-analysis/advanced-driver-assistance-
systems-adas-market.
In this thesis, our team managed to conduct a system for sign spot detection information system
for getting real time scenario of objects around the prototype while moving and helping while it
is changing its lane that can run well in basic scenarios.
Research OBJECTIVE
Research, design, and construct an ADAS that can operate well on the real-time system. For this
purpose, our team has to build that hardware and research suitable algorithms that can be
operated in real-time and on our Jetson. At the same time, this project will be the most
fundamental investigation of the popular object detection algorithm Yolov5 and the newest
Yolov7.
LIMITATION
This purpose of this chapter is to present a theoretical and conceptual framework which
will be employed by this study. The theoretical and conceptual framework is based on
the findings presented in the literature reviewed. This provides the framework for the
research design and analysis. The following theories and theoretical frameworks served as a
foundation for developing information literacy instruction module and the study
