Infrastructure Victoria is an independent statutory authority. We provide expert advice, conduct
research and guide decision-making on Victoria’s infrastructure needs and priorities.

What we do:
We help ensure infrastructure is planned and managed with transparent, independent, and expert
advice. We consider the social, economic, and environmental impacts of infrastructure policies and
investment. We guide decision making and contribute to public discussion about Victoria’s future.

Infrastructure Victoria has 3 major roles:

 prepare a 30 year infrastructure strategy for Victoria


 advise the Victorian Government on infrastructure matters
 publish research on infrastructure matters.

The opportunity:
We are looking for an enthusiastic economist who wants to use their econometric and statistical
analysis skills to influence Victoria’s infrastructure policy. You will have training and experience in
applying econometric and statistical analysis to real world problems. You will work in a dynamic and
fast-paced team, contributing to different strategic and research projects related to infrastructure.

Successful applicants will:

 under direction, undertake quantitative economic analysis, including by sourcing, managing,


analysing and modelling econometric and statistical data
 Support teams in managing and using large datasets, including by coding models, extracting
targeted information, and preparing summaries of key metrics
 contribute to strategic research projects relating to infrastructure matters
 under direction, engage with stakeholders and experts, including in government, business,
universities and the not for profit sector
 contribute to other products and responsibilities within IV as required, particularly in periods
of peak work demand
 be a positive role model and contribute to a positive and collaborative culture in the
workplace

Who we are looking for:
You will:

 have experience and training in quantitative economic modelling and statistical analysis,
including coding in R and/or python
 be able to convey complex quantitative information in a clear, concise, and engaging way, in
different formats including written reports, presentations and/or data visualisation tools
 pay attention to detail and follow prescribed procedures for data management
 demonstrate the ability to plan and prioritise effectively, set goals, and achieve a high
standard of performance
 show a capacity to work with limited supervision while regularly communicating with, and
supporting, other team members
 show a capacity to collaboratively work with different teams, disciplines and stakeholders
 lead by example and adopt flexible and collaborative work practices to deliver Infrastructure
Victoria’s priorities and initiatives, as required.

Infrastructure Victoria employs people with many different skills and professional experiences. We
would like to know any other skills and experience you bring, such as:

 specific research or analytical skills


 relevant professional experiences or training
 particular subject matter expertise.

A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline, such as economics, statistics, or computer science,


will be highly regarded.

Infrastructure Victoria intends to fill this position at a VPS4 level, according to the successful
candidate’s skills and experience. This reflects a current remuneration range of between $90,067
and $102,192 excluding superannuation.

We will assess whether you can demonstrate you have the skills, knowledge, experience, and
qualifications we have specified above.

COVID-19 Vaccination Policy

Infrastructure Victoria is committed to providing and maintaining a working environment which is


safe and without risk to the health of its employees and consistent with its obligations under the
Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004 (OH&S Act).

Infrastructure Victoria’s COVID-19 Vaccination Policy requires all employees to have an up-to-date
vaccination status, or be medically exempted, as defined by the Australian Technical Advisory Group
on Immunisation (ATAGI), in order to attend an IV work site or work on behalf of the agency in the
community. Currently an up-to-date vaccination status means 2 primary doses and a booster dose.

Pre-employment Misconduct Screening Policy

Before a final offer of employment is made, preferred candidates will be required to complete a pre-
