1) For the following scenarios, choose a suitable combination of input and output devices to best
support the intended interaction. It may help to identify typical users or classes of user, and identify how
the devices chosen support these people in their tasks. Explain the major problems that the input and
output devices solve.

(a) Environmental database

A computer database is under development that will hold environmental information. This ranges from
meteorological measurements through fish catches to descriptions of pollution, and will include
topographical details and sketches and photographs. The data has to be accessed only by experts, but
they want to be able to describe and retrieve any piece of data within a few seconds.

- A Laptop which is an easy stuff to carry around, it has the basic needs that every computer
needs. It has built-in System Unit, Monitor, Keyboard, and a Touch pad. Monitor displays what
needs to be displayed, Keyboard is the tool you need to type in a command or to encode
something, A Touch pad is where you use your finger to navigate with the use of Monitor to see
the display and also to navigate accurately, the System Unit’s the one that processed what has
the other things that I have mentioned.

(b) Word processor for blind people

A word processor for blind users is needed, which can also be operated by sighted people. It has to
support the standard set of word-processing tasks.

- Since the World’s technologies have evolved and improved a lot throughout the decade, it is
impossible that there would no technologies or tools for disabled people. A Text-to-Speech and
Speech-to-Text, it is very useful for blind people to processed words into a computer or phone.

2) Exhaustively explain the Myth of Infinitely Fast Machine. Evaluate and criticize how it is related to HCI.

- If the machine were endlessly quick, it would achieve a stable state instantly, and would be empty. As
there would be no time to type-ahead, all users would essentially be patient. We can get the sequence
that a patient user would have typed for any sequence.
