Question 1. Selection and recruitment are the same. Explain.

Selection is the process of choosing the most suitable candidate for a particular
vacant post in an organization. It literally means discarding unsuitable applicants and selecting
those individuals with the right qualifications and capabilities.

On the other hand, Recruitment is the process of actively seeking out, finding and hiring
candidates for a specific position or job. It's a process to choose the right candidate with the
best skills, experience, and personality to fit the job.

Both words closely mean the same but they have quite differences. For instance, during the
recruitment process, people applying pay less attention to scrutinization while the selection
process involves a more thorough examination of applicants in able to choose the perfect
match for the job.

Therefore, Recruitment and selection are both known terms related to the hiring process but
there is very distinct term, Recruitment has to do with scouting of attracting the appropriate
applicants, and Selection deals with effective method of choosing the ideal applicant.

Question 2. Does delegation have any positive inclination towards the employee, manager and
organization? Discuss your view.

There’s no doubt in any sector or company, delegation of duties by a superior


individual has contributed majorly to an employee, manager etc. experience. Delegation of
duties provides the basic energy to the organizational activities. For instance, through
delegation, a manager is able to share its work and allocate it to the subordinate employees,
which thus, helps in reducing the manager work load so that he/she can fully concentrate on
more important jobs. Therefore, this empowers the subordinate workers to gain more skills.
Boost employees’ self-esteem, delegation also saves time and helps achieve more result.

Delegation is of great value within any organization sector either in a company or


educational environment. It contributes several benefits within any sector. Good delegation
provides better managers and a higher degree of efficiency amongst the employees

Question 3. Differentiate between Maslow and any other two theories.

i. Malow’s theories posits the importance of human needs and its


fulfillment whereas Herzberg’s theory focusses on motivation based on
rewards and incentives.
ii. Maslow’s theory covers more on various of needs while McClelland’s
focused on needs that are social in nature.

Question 4. Explain your understanding of departmentalization.

Departmentalization means dividing an organization into different departments,


which each typically performs specialized tasks. Some types of departmentalization are process,
function, market, product, customer etc.

Question 5. Clearly differentiate between power and authority under different 5 headings.

The following explains the difference between power and authority:

i. Authority is institutional and is given by an organization to a position while power is


not so given by the institution.
ii. Authority is just and applied equally while power may be use indiscriminately.
iii. Authority is formally based upon superior and subordinate relationship whereas
power is informal and is based upon individual perception.
iv. Authority is legally enforced and is derived from level of position in organization but
power is a personal trait derived from knowledge and expertise by an individual.
v. Power does not follow hierarchy while Authority follows the proper hierarchy

Question 6. What are the functions of manpower planning in any organization.

Manpower planning is the process of deciding how many people will be needed for a
particular job or project, and how they should be used.

Manpower planning plays the following function in an organization:

i. By helping an organization to identify the available talents in any concern area and
training programs can be introduce to develop those talents.
ii. They also help in the organization to plan ahead so they can maintain steady supply
of skilled employees.
iii. They also provide organizational structure and the ability to meet business needs by
effectively managing lifecycle.
iv. Also, they provide assistance in the process of recruitment and selection.

Q7. Discuss the fundamentals functions of management in a telecommunication business.

The main purpose of telecommunication system is to exchange information among


users. These are done through television, radio, electronic mails and message.
Telecommunication is an important tool for businesses.

1. It enables companies to communicate effectively with customers and deliver high


standards for customer service.
2. Telecommunication managers plays vital role in the telecommunication business by
overseeing the installation and maintenance of telecommunication system.
3. Setting up hardware and installing software falls under the jurisdiction of a person
working in telecommunications management.
4. Addressing departmental concerns. Troubleshooting, and targeting weak spots in a
company’s telecommunication would also be the management’s priority.
