▪ Align the requirements and responses of various parties in relation to well


control assurance in Rokan SMO
▪ Assures all parties:
• Have the same information and understanding
• To resolve well control issues between different parties
▪ Understand Basic Well Control-Related Technical Concepts:
• Bottom Hole Pressure Concepts
• Kick Detection & Shut-In
• Well Kill Methods
• Well Control Equipment and Closing Systems
• Fluids
• Coiled Tubing, Snubbing & Wireline Well Control
▪ Develop awareness of the requirements for three Technical Standards:
Well Control Requirements, Well Control Systems and Well Barrier Design.
WCAS Overview
Well Control Assurance System

• What is WCAS?
– A certification program that provides the maximum reasonable assurance
that well control will be maintained at all times
– Applicable to all wells and rig operations under the operational control of
D&C organization
– WCAS is process safety for all rig-based well operations under the control
of D&C Rokan SMO
• What is the objective of WCAS?
– Ensure no loss of containment
• How will success of WCAS be measured?
– No WCAS certified operation will experience a well control incident which
results in an unintentional release of fluids from the wellbore

Course Requirements

▪ Qualify from Well Control Assessments / Exams:

✓ Qualifying Well Control Exam

Well Control Exams
• Qualifying Test
• Pre-Test: Monday Morning
• Surface: 30 min for 20 questions
• No passing grade → to see student’s initial knowledge level

• Post Test: Thursday


• Surface: 150 min for 50 questions
• Passing grade is 75%
• Minimum score for retaking retest is 40%

• Re-Test (If necessary): 14-Days to Complete the Re-Tests


• Surface: 150 min for 50 questions
• Passing grade is 75%

▪ Skills Assessment (Simulator)


• Utilize the E-Simulator
• Simulator Exam Administered on D-3 Afternoon
• Working in group of 3 to 4 student / group
