The hardware and software that collectively enable a vehicle to operate on a sustained
basis. System capability to drive a vehicle without human support. ADS should be
evaluated based on the capabilities available to the operator.
The Operational Design Domain (ODD) refers to the conditions under which an ADS is
designed to operate but may have more than one discrete set of conditions.
Controlling the speed and behavior of the vehicle, monitoring the driving environment
and evaluating the situation of the vehicle in relation to other road users, determining the
appropriate response to static and dynamic conditions.
Intends to describe "system security" as a basis for obtaining "safe performance" and
specifications. Ensuring the security of the system and its overall purpose. Safe
performance will determine ADS driving behavior, interaction with the ADS operator,
interaction with other road users, post-crash behavior, DDT effectiveness, and other
aspects. Safe performance will follow ADS driving behavior, ADS operator, ADS
operator, local users and others, post-script policy, DDT performance and other aspects.
