Interview No.1

1- What are the processes they use for scope management in the organization?

Initially, we (project manager) conduct requirement-gathering meetings for the sprint with the
client and lead by an internal meeting with the technical lead to finalize the items as per the
priority and resource availability.
WBS for a 3–4-week sprint is being shared with the client and progress is being tracked weekly.
If in case of any scope changes in between the sprint – a change request ticket is created and
then after validating the priority and severity, the manager decides whether to incorporate it
within the ongoing sprint or not.

2- Which tool & technique do they use for scope verification and validation?

Basecamp tickets and WBS is being used for scope verification. However, tracking WBS and
inspecting basecamp tickets (along with all the progress/query comments) is the technique used
for scope validation.

3- What value scope management process add to their organization?

This creates a productive environment with a clear and unambiguous path for the team. It is
easier to meet deadlines without haphazard and late sittings when the team knows their task

We are an agile organization so I will answer this question being in the agile environment.

 By regularly grooming product backlog (Every week)

 By assigning accurate priority levels to the backlog items and re-visiting them after each
iteration (Sprint)
 By defining sprint goals clearly
 By making sure the acceptance criteria for each task in the sprint are crystal clear
 By doing this we avoid scope creep
 By pushing back scope changes during iteration. As much as we can.
 By adding buffers for unknown unknown risks.

Feature/Product demos after achieving each milestone or after every iteration.

3. What value scope management process add to their organization?

1. To manage the scope, we create product roadmap, we do backlog grooming meetings,

release / sprint plan meetings, and daily scrum / stand-up meetings.

2. For scope validation, we prepare project documents like project one-pager, roadmaps / plan,
list down verified deliverables, and gather work performance data. We use empiricism as the
tool for the validation / verification of scope where we remain transparent in terms of
information handling, keep on inspecting the progress and keep on adapting changes where
