Introduction to rules and regulations in maritime safety
management; Ship classification and marine insurance; The risk concept and the risk picture based upon accident and vessel-year statistics; Accident statistics; Accident investigation and analysis; Analysis and modeling of ship casualties; Analysis and modeling of ship accidents including BBN approach to accident analysis; Maritime traffic models. Probability of grounding and collision; Consequence estimation of maritime contact accidents; Human reliability; Error mechanisms and modeling approaches. Safety management and the ISM code – the International Safety Management code; Port state control; Risk based ship selection.
