I was in a group, talking with a few UX Designers that recently got a job, and 3 of them
got it through LinkedIn.
So, my only advice here is: If you are looking for a job, don't forget about your
LinkedIn profile. It is getting more and more important nowadays.
Today we will start with the very basics of a LinkedIn profile, but it is already
something very powerful and can get you more visitors.

Basically, the best picture shows a smile with teths, but not a big smile, it shows your
smiling eyes and you should be dressed to work, in addition, The picture should be
cropped from the top of your head to the top of your shoulders.
Imagine that you will present your product to a group of very influential investors,
now, the marketing team is creating a banner to share the event and they need your
picture on it. Which picture would you pick?
Are you smiling, are you serious, are you formally dressed? What represents you at
work?

If you could expose your business/job on a Times Square Billboard, what would it
look like?
You will find the banner on the top of your LinkedIn profile, behind your picture. On
the very top click on the ''camera icon'' and then ''upload your banner''.
Don't use images just because they are pretty, they should be related to your job
or your business
Show what you can provide for a business or what you can bring to a company as
an employee
You can show some of your results, like something you achieved in the past

This is Lisa Fischer, well-known from those who took the Google UX Design
certificate — She uses her logo as a Banner.

I liked this next Banner a lot, I think it represents well what Maryann does.
Could you guess what she does only by looking at the banner below?

Oh, and we have many people that still don't use it, like our well-known Google
Instructor Michael Dedrick. I mean, it doesn't have to be a rule to use the banner, as
long as you know how to use it and its benefits.

First: If you are changing careers, there is no point in keeping your old profession as a
title, use the new one.
Why? Easy, people will search a keyword and your profile will appear like that:
Many of us only use the headlines to write the job title and it is fine, but you can also
use them to express any relevant information about yourself.
See examples below: The headline is the one that appears under the person's name.

his expertise, ending with a call to action by inviting people to connect.

your favor.

It will depend on what you do, and the moment of your career. Tell people what they
need to know straight away about you, and it is ok if it is only your job title.
Improving the LinkedIn profile goes way beyond these first three steps, but we walk
one step at a time.

Oh, before you ask, I can not give my personal opinion about his work as a coach.
I think his profile stood out, from the picture, (which has an introductory video), to the
headlines (he uses the first person) and Banner ( branding oriented), it was also nice
to learn how to pronounce his name, (by the speaker in front of his name).
To create this article I did a lot of research and scrolled for hours around Linkedin
profiles looking for patterns or something that would bring inspiration. I don't want to
talk about the truth of how to use LinkedIn, because I learned that it can vary
depending on your goal in the platform, so I wanted to show how many people are
making better use of its functionalities.
Main Resources: Banner; Picture, Here you can see a full study of profile pictures,
I hope you enjoyed the reading, and as always. I will see you in the next article.
