PIK-2P

Development Project Additional Data

1. PIK-2P squib
Squib developed by ADRON will be used in new PIK-2P flares.

Squib main parameters

Purpose. EKV3-10 is pulse energy generator. Energy is generated as high

temperature combustion residue of initiating charge and igniter composition. This
energy pulse initiates pyrotechnic composition of PIK-2P.
Technical specification:
а) Dimensions and weight:
- diameter – 16 mm;
- height – 14.6 mm;
- weight – 0,011 кг
Dimensional drawing is attached.
б) electrical resistance – 2 Ohm (is specified at development stage)
в) power supply - 26±2 VDC (is specified at development stage)
г) operating current – 4.5±0.25A
д) actuation time – not more than 7·10-4 s.
е) environmental parameters:
- higher operating temperature – plus (50±3)ºС;
- lower operating temperature – minus (50±3)ºС;
- relative humidity – from 95% to 98% at plus (40±3)ºС.
ж) safety:

- upon vibrational acceleration;
- upon 6x impact load of 100 g pending 0.5 ms.
- at electric and magnetic fields of power line and aerial contact wire;
- at lightning;
- at electric and magnetic fields of high frequency generators;
- at static charge;
- is safety at 1 A current pending 5 minutes.
з) reliability is not less than 0.9999 at standard deviation of 0.00001.

3. Delivery cost can be discussed, but less then world price.

4. PIK-2P spectral response.

Flare burning is attended with water vapor (Н2О), carbon dioxide (СО2) and carbon
black particles.
Water vapor and carbon dioxide have line spectrum emission in 2.6…2.8 µm
band (for water vapor) and 4.1…4.3 µm band (for carbon dioxide). Carbon black
particles radiate as a black body.
Aluminum is used to increase composition burning temperature.
Emission maximum position is defined with equation

Λmax = 2898/T,

where Т – burning temperature in Kelvin. For our flares T=2150°K.

Flare spectral response is shown on fig. 1

Fig. 1

Main part of energy is emitted by carbon black particles. They are heated to
burning temperature and emit as black body.
Peaks in Dλ = 2.6…2.8 µm and Dλ = 4.1…4.3 µm correspond to line spectrum
emission of water vapor and carbon dioxide.
Insignificant peaks in λ < 1 µm correspond to aluminum emission.
