1 Introduction
1.1 General
Orthopantomograph® OP100 D is software controlled diagnostic panoramic
dental x-ray equipment for producing high quality digital images of dentition
and TM-joints.
Software is divided into two parts. User programs (“Pr”) are accessible by
the user and they have features for configuring the unit for daily use and for
changing technique factors to optimize image quality.
Maintenance & Service programs (“Sr”) are for technical people for
installation and service. Tools are required to access “Sr” programs.
This manual covers the features of the “Pr” programs OP100 D software
version 1.4.11. Please refer to the OP100 D Service Program Manual V1.4.11
for “Sr” program features.
Pr POWER UP SETTINGS:
51 AEC mode density or Manual mode technique factors for the
PUS control panel display after OP100 D power-up.
Pr
52 CONSTANT CONTRAST & DOSE:
CCo Set technique factors for all imaging programs.
VERTEBRAE SHADOW COMPENSATION:
kV-compensation at spinal column for imaging programs 1
trough 4.
– OFF = no compensation.
Pr – LO = compensation by 3-4 kV
58 – HI = compensation by 6-8 kV
Con – ASC = Automatic Spine Compensation
NOTE
If the button is released too early, program resumes to normal operation. In
that case start again.
Select one of the “ Pr “ programs. Use up and down keys to view programs,
press OK key to select.
Set or change the parameters for this program. Use arrow keys to select
option and settings. Follow the guidelines for each “ Pr “ program described
in the next chapter.
NOTE
If you change the parameters and forget to press “ OK “ or switch the power
off, the storing of any changes failed.
Exit from the programming. Press OK for a while. Several beeps are heard as
the normal display is resumed. Another way to exit programming is to switch
OP100 D power off, wait for 15 s, and switch the power on again.
Press OK for a few seconds untill the unit stops beeping to get the User
Programs. Select with the arrow keys Pr68Ins and press OK. Select with the
arrow keys EPS mode and accept the choise by pressing OK. Press once more
OK for a few seconds to get to the normal mode.
Press OK for a few seconds untill the unit stops beeping to get the User
Programs. Select with the arrow keys Pr52Cco and press OK. The LED of
imaging program 1 (P1) blinks while kV and density values are displayed.
Select with + key the program 3 (P3). Use the arrow keys to select the dose
value when time display starts to blink. Set the desired density value with +
and - keys. Pressing OK lets the user to the normal mode.
Programming:
Change the power up setting. Select one of the imaging programs, Program 1
to 9. Use arrow keys.
Select the exposure control mode: AEC, Manual or Test. Use arrow keys.
With the AEC mode select the dose setting. From the middle position there
are four choices to have more dose and four choices for less dose. If two
lights are lit, the dose value is between these two settings. With the Manual
mode select one of the preprogrammed patient size symbols or other
technique factors.
Note that AEC can be selected for the panoramic programs (P1 - P4) only.
Move the blinking light to a place which you would be using most. Usually
this is the imaging program selection or AEC dose selection.
AEC and Manual mode technique factors are related to each other: the
selection of contrast (kV level) and dose will fix the AEC and Manual mode
technique factors. Preprogrammed patient size symbols have only one
reference, and this reference is tied to AEC settings. The technique factors’
relation between patient size symbols is fixed.
NOTE
If ceph head´s ear rods are in lateral position when entering to the
cephimaging programs only P6 can be adjusted. Accordingly only P7 can be
adjusted if ear rods are in PA position.
Programming:
Select program “Pr 52 CCo” and press OK . Light over program P1 is lit and
blinking. KV display shows the current constant contrast kV level and the
exposure time display shows the dose reference for this imaging program.
Select or change the constant contrast value for this imaging program. Press
down key. kV display is blinking. Use left or right keys to change this value.
Lower kV increases the image contrast.
Select the dose level for this imaging program. Press down key. mA display is
blinking. Use left or right keys to change this value. Higher numbers give
darker exposures.
NOTE
These technique settings are for guidance. If the patient images have less
resolution than desired, you may have to change contrast and / or dose
according to user preferences.
If you want to change contrast and dose for other programs, repeat steps 2 and
3.
Programming:
These parameters have to be checked for configuring OP100 D for daily use.

Press OK to store these changes into OP100 D memory. OP100 D will light
all indicators and display “ PAS “ momentarily and then “ Pr 58 Con “
again. Select another program or exit programming.
Programming:
Press right key, if you don’t want to clear the exposure counter value to zero.
Number of exposures taken , eg. “ 12 345 “, is displayed on the mA ( = “12” )
and exposure time (= “345”) displays.

NOTE
Ch failure code “ Ch 5 *** “ will be stored, others Ch codes will be not. Sy
failure codes will be stored, except “ Sy 20 *** “ and “ Sy 26 EEP “.
Press OK key. OP100 D will light all indicators and display “ PAS “
momentarily and then “ Pr 62 Err “ again. Select another program or exit
programming.

The ceph head can be driven to the beam alignment position if this program is
selected. After selecting nCh in PR 68 Ins, go to the lateral imaging program
P6 and select Test mode. Then press the exposure button until movement
stops, then release exposure button. Go back to the PR 68 Ins and choose EPS
mode. Then make the beam alignment test by pressing exposure button.
Select the lateral imaging program P6. Enter the program PR 68 Ins and
select EPS. Press the patient positioning button. Unit drives the ceph head to
the beam alignment position. Press the exposure button.
